harrisdolls:  Hey there!!! I posted a thread a week or so ago and had a lady respond from Ontario. I believe she just spent the tax on the ring plus the standard $25 shipping fee. She said she didn’t spend that much, it was about an additional $50 maybe?? Hope this helps. =]

I am in Ontario and bought earrings from Moissanite Co. about a year ago. I didn’t have to pay any duty, just regular HST.

I’m in BC (I don’t see why provinces should be different since it’s all federally regulated) and just received my second ring from MoissaniteCo. Paid $25 in brokerage fees. Even if you had to pay standard duty (it’s like 15-20% of the value??), it’s still cheaper than buying here in Canada… I’ve found anyway. I got a few quotes from local jewelers and even with the exchange difference and the possibility of paying a few hundred in duty and taxes, I’d still have saved $600+ buying from MoissaniteCo.

harrisdolls:  because of the North American Free Trade Agreement, as long as the item in made in the US you will only pay HST.  When you check out you won’t be charged tax, so it will the cost (gross, or before taxes) + shipping.  Then when you receive the ring or pick it up at the post office you will pay taxes of 13%.

I’ve purchased lots of moissanite jewelry from moissaniteco and I pay around 13-15%. I’m in Toronto 😉
