@newbie_bee:  Welcome to the bee! This is a great place to get ideas and support. My moissanite was set in my band for me locally. But for my 5 year anniversary ring, I am getting the whole thing from moissaniteco.  Bees do it both ways. The important thing either way is to go with someone that you trust! Good luck!

@newbie_bee:  sorry! I am in LA, as in the state. I felt the same reluctance to buy without seeing, but I shopped around so much that I got a really good idea of what my ring will feel like. I am getting eng689. And you can always return it!

@newbie_bee:  YES!!! There are sources in the jewlery district on Hill downtown LA.   I actually was just correponding with a jewler I have used for YEARS to help friends get diamons rings.  I asked him if he has a Moissanite source and he does. I am waiting to hear from him Friday to see if he can have stones for me to look at Saturday or Monday.  I am looking for a 4 carat equivelent oval and the approximate cost is a bit lower than I have found after extensive research on the web.  He is capeable of creating any setting you want.  I had him replicate Harry Winston styles modern classic solitares and an amazing art deco cartier ring.   Happy to keep you posted not sure what the rules for passing along his info here are….

@Java:  This is the Art Deco (actually Edwardian) ring that was replicated this is a google image but the replica was identical.  What they do now is create a 3-D computer draft, then that gets sent to the wax carving lazer machine and the wax is cut.  Probally a lot more complicated than I make it sound.  The cost of the wa was ~250 and the setting was ~ 1,100 about a year ago.

@newbie_bee:   While I don’t know any places in LA, I do know that vendors like shopnbc, JTV.com, HSN all sell moissanite pretty cheaply. They have very good return policies, you get it, if you don’t like it, you send it back. No risk.

Also, a 1 carat diamond eqivalent wt moissanite in a simple 6 promg gold setting at Moissaniteco is in the $400’s. Jtv.com is even less. JTV also has moissanite in silver for less than $100.  A genunine high quality conflict free diamond would be $5000,  moissanites are major bang for the buck

All moissanite is made for c&c at the same factory (CREE) in No Carolina. Some look better because they receive extra treatment to make them appear whiter. Can get some really good deals if you shop around. The setting is what really increases the price, gold and other precious metals are so expensive..

Good luckSmile

@newbie_bee:  Hi, my sis-in-law got her moissanite e-ring from JTV, it’s a 1.70ct (dia. wt.) square brilliant solitaire. She travels A LOT for her work so she really didn’t want an expensive diamond/gemstone ring. Her ring was the cheaper silver version but it had gotten too scratched up within the first year she had to reset the moissy in gold. If you’re shopping for an e-ring, I’d definitely suggest you to get it in gold.

JTV is a great online source for low price jewelry, I have had several good experiences buying beautiful watches from them and they offer 30-days return policy. I have not yet purchased any of their jewelry though.

Best of luck to u!

@newbie_bee:  yes, I’ve bought various things including jewelry over the years from Shopnbc, JTV.  Some things I’ve liked, some I’ve returned. I usually investigate pretty well, look at reviews etc first. Good point nkwe22 mentioned above about silver. I went to the sites and looked around at the moissanite jewelry that are in actual gold, the heavier and ornate the setting, the higher the price. Here’s a few I’ve found. They both seem to have tons of stuff, erings, wedding, earrings, pendants. They all (including moissaniteco) get the moissanite from the same factory.

White gold: $480 Shopnbc

122-764 - 14K White Gold 1.00ct DEW Moissanite Solitaire Ring$660 White gold shopnbc:

Be careful with JTV.  They sell higher quality moissanite like most of the online retailers do, but they also sell the “Fire” brand, which is the lower quality.  It has visible inclusions and really poor color in most cases.
