I’m newly engaged !!! Here in Ireland it’s very common to pick your own engagement ring, so after weeks of lurking on boards and website I think the perfect fit for me is a moissanite ring…..only one problem they are not widely available on Ireland so I haven’t seen them in real life, there is a company in the Uk moissanite.co.uk have any UK bees used them or else I’ll order from a company in the US online. Any mossy advice would be a great help like what to look for in a stone!!!
Show me your bling!!!!

@Irishlolo: what style setting are you looking for? Is there a preference on the cut and or caret weight that you would like? Mine is a three stone yellow gold 2ctw round brilliant

@Irishlolo: Congrats on your almost engagement! I JUST finished the process of designing it with my boyfriend and a few things that I wish I would have known when I first started
1. moissanite’s quality is way above CZ, Asha, and many others, but it does have a light yellow tinge to it. It’s awesome though because it is much less likely to break, and it won’t get cloudy like other stones.
2. ONLY buy forever brilliant moissanite, it’s the whitest available (and even then it has a little yellow still)
3. The bigger the rock, the more noticeable the color will be. I got a 3.5 carat and it will show more color than a smaller rock.
4. Try to get all moissanite in the ring, as opposed to diamonds and moissanite mixed. if you have diamonds next to the moissanite (like mine, since my halo is diamonds) the diamonds can look a lot whiter and in turn make your center stone look dingey :/ that’s what I’m currently dealing with 🙁
I don’t really have advice on the website to use, because I went through a local person. but definitely make sure to read reviews of the site first! Charles and covard make most of the moissanite in the world, so I’d assume most good sites would use them as their moissanite supplier. I was looking at rings on moissaniteco.com, but idk if they ship outside of the united states.
here are some pics of my ring I just designed (haven’t gotten it yet!)
It’s a 3.5 carat oval moissanite forever brilliant center stone. Diamond halo and diamonds down half the shank. white gold, scroll design basket setting. The pics are of 1) the computer rendering 2) the loose center stone placed in the green molding that the ring will be cast from 3) the loose stone on my hand
Hope this helps!

I love my moisy! I find my stone is particularily moody, in that it doesn’t look sparkling white like some that I have seen on here, but it sparkles like crazy.I got mine from Moissaniteco.com and I wouldn’t recomend them if you’re not in the U.S, I live in Canada and had some issues with my ring and sending it back for repairs past the border was WAY too costly and they had no intention of helping with that cost, even though the ring was clearly effed up. So I don’t recomend them to ANY non U.S brides.
But I digress, I only have a few pics of it on my laptop and they’re hug, so I appologize for that in advance.

@Lyssie: Your stone looks really dark to me, almost grey. Definitely more grey than yellow. Do you have a dark black cell phone case? <- I hope that doesn’t sound rude! I’m just curious about the dark color I’m seeing in your pics. At first I thought it was maybe from the wax mold but the loose stone looks equally dark.

Thanks Everyone!! I really want a thin band with small moissanite stones on the band no bigger than a 1ct centre solitaire i How do Moissanites compare to Dismonds I plan on telling our family it’s a different stone but if other people don’t ask I don’t plan on explaining it to everyone!

@FutureDrAtkins: Lol I’ll try not to get offended, I know you’re just curious. Truthfully, it’s darker than I wanted (I was expecting it to be as clear as the computer rendering) but it’s not that bad. It looks darker in this picture than it is. It’s really not gray, but sadly I don’t have many great pics of the stone as my Boyfriend or Best Friend hasn’t given it to me yet.
But here are some others, as you can see on the left, it’s really not gray overall, it’s clear. I’m not sure what I was wearing that day, in case it was reflecting off of that. But you can see in the other pics that it’s not gray, it just has a light tinge of yellow.
It may just be because my center stone is 3.76 carats…most people don’t go that large. And most people you can’t really tell that their’s isn’t diamond. I think you’re def good to go if it’s 1-1.5 carat, but I just wanted to warn you just incase you go bigger. What size were you looking at?

I love my Moissy! It’s 1.5 carat equivalent (ring size is about a 6). My fiance bought it through our local jeweler who was able to order some loose moissanite from Charles and Colvard.

@Lyssie: Thanks for the pics, I was just curious. I already have a moissy in my e-ring 🙂

@Irishlolo: I’ve been wearing only diamonds most of my life (married 20yrs next month YAY!) I was soooo curious and ordered a FB loose stone in December. It’s 8mm Ring Bearer, I think Ring Bearer shows the least warmth/colors? I did have to return a 9mm because I wasn’t happy with the color and I would only try Round cut, some fancy cuts I’d seen were not my taste…not that I wanted to pass it off as diamond (I have plenty of diamond pieces and I treat moissanite as a fancy gemstone that I’ll be proud to wear), I just didn’t enjoy their special “faceting”.
Anyway, here’s the loose stone, I will set it as a solitaire.

I absolutely love my moissanite. It’s a 1 carat equivalent forever brilliant round. I had never seen a moissanite in person and we tookthe leap to buy one. It is only yellowish, very faintly, in certain light otherwise it’s completely colorless. The fire is gorgeous but sometimes thats what drives people away from it. I personally love it.
