Very interesting and your ring is bling-tastic!

When I had my 7 mm cushion cut set into a ring setting, the jeweler could not stop looking at it!  She tested it with the gemstone/diamond tester, she louped it for like a longggg time.  Finally, she looked at me and said, this stone is beautifully cut!  (She knew it was a moissanite from the start as I had told her of course).

I’ll celebrate moissy anytime!

My cushion cut in yellow gold (sz 5 to 5.5 finger) 1.5 ct center

Weirdly enough, some jewelers with knowledge of moissanite will mistake a super ideal diamond for a moissanite because it is “too bright”.  Happened to me…was the weirdest experience ever…but I think this particular jeweler probably has really poor eyesight…

I have an electronic diamond tester and a moissanite selector if I’m ever not sure of the two.  I’m surprised more jewelers don’t have these equipments with moissanite becoming ever more popular.

Actually it was in the reverse for me.  I have a super ideal H&A diamond with an HCA score of 0.-something (can’t remember) that I needed to be set in a ring.  I randomly picked a jeweler based on proximity (so no previous interaction) and the jeweler thought my diamond was a moissanite.  We actually had a heated discussion because he completely disregarded what I told him (maybe he thought I was trying to pull a fast one?). He thought my diamond was too brilliant and colorful to be a diamond and insisted that I was trying to sneak him a moissanite. Luckily I brought my certificate and had to show it to him before he acknoweldged it was a diamond and had it set for me.  I won’t go back to that place for obvious reasons, the customer service was horrendous.  I only went because it was conveniently located for me.

makeupluvr :

Thank you very much for your compliment.

Regardless of the stone’s identity, a jeweler should practice basic courtesy at the minimum……I thought I was in the twilight zone……

Happy to show off my new Moissanite! Favorite pics:

In lighting that makes her yellow, hard to believe it’s the same stone! But she’s beautiful white 95% of the time
