I haven’t. I am thinking just a thin one with diamonds all the way around. Just so I can wear the band alone. As it is pretty chunky for everyday wearredearthlady :

Tamtam91 :  I know the feeling. That’s why alot of time I wear one of my other sets or a band alone. Also with the slight split shank on my ring I’ve never really found a band I 100% love with my double halo. I love your ring though, its beautiful!

redearthlady :  I haven’t put it on the Starsgem thread yet because I am still trying to figure out what to do.  I think I may have gone a little too large on the center stone.  I don’t mind the face up view for size but the height is killing me.  The cushion is very deep and with the ruby collar, it feels like a bit much…although shrinkage does happen after a few days!  The ring itself is gorgeous…my daughter is also a July birthday so I decided to go with ruby princess cuts.  I also went with the two toned gold/platinum as an experiment and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The color separation was a little more than I liked so we did a black rhodium finish on it and had it buffed down so it looks antique.  It is unusual but I am still hoping I can get a little smaller stone and pop it in there without having to throw too much more money at it.  Starsgem actually does a really nice OMC though.  No problems with the stone itself.

Here are a few more pic’s:

Katrina117 :   I had the ring made by Sam at Debebian’s in LA.  He is a lot of fun to work with.  I call this ring ‘bedazzled’ because we basically threw everything and the kitchen sink at it

angelwaye :  Its beautiful from all angles ,its funny how in the pics it doesnt seem to sit too high but looks can be decieving. Hopefully you will find a stone with the right dimensions.

angelwaye :  your ring is absolutely beautiful! I’m planning to get an ACC around the same size. How high does it sit? I’m hoping to see a setting like the Rachel ring others have got so it can sit a little lower with a donut

redearthlady :  The total height is 10.8 mm so that is pretty tall.  I usually don’t go over 8.5 mm so I was a little surprised when I saw it finished. It was the only measurement missing off the CAD and I should know better.  I can live with it if I have to but I would like to drop it down a bit.  Cushion’s are just such deep stones.

bdare16 :  As I mentioned above, these cushion’s are very deep.  I also have one being made with an 11×9 in a 3 stone setting with diamond baguettes.  It is more elongated so it doesn’t seem quite as deep as this square but they are still deep stones. That setting will be considerably lower. Even my 11×9 emerald almost sits flat against the finger so it is not always size but depth has to be a consideration for this cut. @luckyrabbit had the Rachel setting made. I know she used the same size stone I did the first time which was 8×9.5 (around 2.5 carats).  It was a nice size but I wanted to go bigger.  Probably somewhere in-between a 4 carat and a 2.5 carat equivalent is a better sweet spot.  I would stick with   10×9 for a square or 8.5×10 for a more elongated look.  If you go much bigger than that, it will look like an ice cube balanced on top of the setting just from the height/depth problem.  Ask luckyabbit for her CAD and also see about getting lab diamonds from SG if you can in the setting.  The price isn’t too much more and I think that would really enhance the overall look and quality of the setting.  She also ordered a setting with lab diamonds so it will be interesting to see some pic’s in the next couple of weeks as I don’t think we have seen any yet in a completed ring from them.

angelwaye :  Yeah now I see how high the profile is. It’s crazy how much of a difference it makes seeing it on the finger. It is soooooooo beautiful but I can understand wanting something more friendly for everyday wear.

Antique cuts have a higher crown when they’re cut correctly. Cushions are always deep stones but antique cuts are even more.

angelwaye :  thank you so much for the info. I was looking into an 11×9.5 in the Rachel setting. I have giant fingers (size 12) and want a substantial ring so wasn’t sure if a 10×8.5 or 11×9.5 would look better.

bdare16 :  I don’t have a problem with the face up size of mine but the height is definitely an issue.  I would personally do the 10×8.5 mm.  I know it is tempting to go so much bigger for finger size…this I understand as I have the same problem.  Having watched other’s try the 12×10 size, they have all come back and said it was too big in the end in a cushion shape.  That’s why I tried a bit smaller but I wish I had gone closer to 3 carats. It becomes top heavy and there is this point where they just look a little more unrealistic.
