I think the Amora gem is over valued.  Right now you have sellers in India who are making moissante in all different colors.  I just saw a pic of one that looked amazing!  The Amora gem is essentially moissanlite.  Also you pretty much have to want something huge and round because they sell out of everything so quick.  i just don’t think they are a good value Compared to moissanite.

Amora Gem is very similar to a F1 Moissanite, but the company has spent more time developing the cut. That’s why they’re a lot more expensive, but for me, the cut is the most important ‘C’ of the 4C’s, so I would choose an Amora Gem over a F1 moissanite. I don’t like the ‘moodiness’ of the classic & FB moissanites, and they also have the same poor cut. I think it comes down to preference and price. Right now I’m eyeing up the oval Amora, it looks amazing.

princessforever77:  Amora Gem Ultra H&A all the way. The cut is better than moissanite in my opinion. Worth the extra cost.

For an OEC – which is a discontinued moissanite cut – I prefer moissanite (classic first, followed by FB). But supply is dwindling so unless I get a great second hand one I would go Amora Gem.

For all other cuts except rounds, I’d order at least one of each if available and compare in person to what I liked more. For rounds…which I have already compared in person, I’d lean toward the Amora Gem as I like its overall looks/cut better. I do not typically like modern rounds though but BTD puts a lot of work into the cuts for the AG.

The trick is getting one of the smaller ones. I am not interested in a 3-8 or whatever carat Amora Gem which often seems to be all that is available in short course!

princessforever77:  I ended up going with the F1 moissanite. I think the amora gem is beautiful but the only thing that I didnt care for were the chunky large arrows. With that said I have never seen one in person so I cant say for sure if I would like it better or not. They are hard to find in smaller sizes as well, unless you are going for a 3 carat or up. Just have to wait for the restock and make sure you are ready to buy!

Overall the price is what really helped me decide. I personally didnt feel it was worth to spend the extra money on the cut since I really dont mind the splintery facets with moissanite. I find it beautfiul. Some prefer the chunkier cut. Its all down to preference.

If it is possible for you to maybe order both and see which one you prefer 🙂 I didnt have that option at the time. I know they are to be coming out with a newer cut that has less of the chunky arrows. When that time comes I am really interested in what they will look like and may order one to see in person. Good luck bee, either way you go they are both beautiful stones!

I thought I wanted a F1, but I am waiting to see the new cut of the AG first, called “Soaring Hearts”. It is currently in production and being tested as we speak. Supposedly they faded back the arrows, which would be a huge selling feature for me. I want a round gem, and I do think the AG’s cut is far more superior to the F1 (the crown is taller and less splintery), and sadly, C&C will not be cutting anymore H&A cuts of the F1 (which seemed like the only good cut), if not for a very long time.

Are you engaged now? Congrats. I would go with an amora over a moissanite.

I’m with sparklesauce- I’m waiting to see what they do with the new Amora cuts I wasn’t a huge fan of the chunky hearts and arrows but that was really my only con towards it (I saw one in person). I’m hoping they will apply the new soaring hearts cut to their cushions soon.. that would be a dream!!

With that being said though the amora is definitely a pretty stone and I’ve seen some amazing rings recently on here with Amora’s in them

I have 3 moissanite stones (2 Round Brilliant and 1 OEC) and 2 amoras (1 OEC and 1 H&A), and I love them all, but find myself prefering my AGs.

My favorite cut so far is the OEC, and I feel that may be what drew me to love the chunkier arrows in the H&A ultra amora, but BTD has a new optimization software and they found newer, better cuts, combined with the precision from their TIGER robot, so all the cuts are being re-done.

Newer cut moissys can be super pretty, and in a video comparing two ovals, one F1 and the other AG, I visually prefered the F1 moissy.

The cut is worth the cost to me overall, but they are both great, as long as the moissy is well cut, I don’t think you can go wrong either way.

My vote is for the amora gem, but clearly I’m biased. I have a 4.5 carat cushion cut and the arrows only show up in certain pictures and aren’t visible in real life. Crisp, colorless, sparkly but not too rainbow-y unless in direct sunlight. Everything I imagined and more

princessforever77:  Amora gem is moissanite. They’re the same stone just different cut.

mrstodd2bee:  Exactly right.  4H silicon carbide.  Its the same crystal that the newest C&C Moissanite is made of.  If Amora Gem isn’t Moissanite than Forever One Moissanite isn’t Moissanite either.
