Amora Gem is moissanite. I know it can be misleading based on the marketing they do for the stone. Amora gems are also almost impossible to get ahold of.

Honestly considering the wait times for the stone I would go with a H&A moissanite or a Neo Diamond cut moissanite. They (in my opinion) seem to be cut just as well, if not better, than the Amora. They also are much more reasonable in price and availability.

Amora’s used to be the best option, but at this point there are so many “diamond-like” moissanite options I wouldn’t even bother with AG.

The main difference in SiC products out there now is the cut.  They are all 4H for the most part.  But I love moissy in general, and would preefer a moissy in the size I want over a small diamond.  Everyone is different though.

The only requirements I have for the stone of my engagement ring is that it is white/colorless,  sparkles,  and is durable. Moissanite fits all of that without breaking the bank like diamonds,  especially if you want a larger stone. The only difference I see between my diamonds and moissanite is that the moissanite sparkles more rainbow flashes…which sells it even more to me. The cut is a little different also but not enough to throw you off. In fact when people see my 1 carat moissanite, they assume it is a great quality diamond and shocked to hear otherwise. So I say go for the mossy!

I have both moissanite and diamond. I love them both. The 1 carat diamond was about 10x the price of the moissanite. $8000 vs $800. For the price difference I would go with moissanite – then get the big stone I want. No one looks at stones terribly closely – only you will know

bquakkel :  yes basically the cut is the only difference.. well WAS the only difference lol it was a big deal and special when your only option was Amora Gem H&A cut or the round brilliant moissy (which a lot of people felt looked very splintery).

Now there are quite a few places to get H&A cut stones. If anything I would venture to say that (money and availability aside) Amora Gem isn’t the best option because the arrows in the stone are SO dark and pronounced it doesn’t look right. (again personal opinion and preference though)

I’ll be purchasing either a Neo diamond cut or a H&A moissanite after over a year of research! I hope you find your perfect stone!

I’ve had both and I would definitely go with the moissanite. I returned the Amora because of the white out effect that many of them. Below is a video of the Amora Gem Soaring Hearts I had.

I’ve had the NEO, MossaniteCo H&A, and DiaMonna and would suggest any of the three ๐Ÿ™‚

I have a moissanite hearts and arrows and I love it! The new soaring hearts AG looks strange to me. I don’t like how the arrows are very wide, somewhat rounded, and very prominent directly under the table.

I’d do MoissaniteCo’s H&A over an Amora Gem any day of the week. I don’t think the price difference is worth it and I actually prefer the cut of the H&A over the AG, plus you will likely be on a long waiting list for an AG.

I have a 4.5 carat, F color, cushion amora gem- and my ring is sized to a 5.75. I saw a round Forever 1 moissanite when we were designing my ring, and I have to say everything I’ve ever read about round moissanites being flat and splintery-looking were right on the money. Amora gem was definitely the right decision for us, but I will say the oval forever 1 I saw was beautiful.

    bquakkel :

These are the best side pics I have, sorry! We got the stone from Gold&Gems for about$2800, and the setting cost us $1300 from a local jeweler since they had to redo the entire basket because the stone was too large for the original one. Hope that helps a little!
