Okay so this may not be super helpful but I have a round moissy that I never saw loose and I never see a neon green tint in it… Also mine is unenhanced.

Round enhanced moissanite (in my experience) is quite white (I have a 1.5ct/7.5mm stone and it definitely isn’t yellow, nevermind green!), but I have heard that other shapes are more prone to yellow/green tinges.

I think you should try going with an Amora cushion

Here is a pic of my ring:

@specialkai: Well cushions are only rated at J color. Perhaps then you should go with an amora round then, since they are H color.

Mine is round and unenhanced as well- 1.5 cts I think, so rather large, and it has some color changes depending on the light for sure, but I like it that way. I never saw mine loose, so I can’t compare, but I didn’t want it to pass as a diamond either. It’s never looked colored in photos but, I definitely notice it on my hand. I have heard that enhanced moissies are whiter, but they weren’t around when I got mine so I coldn’t compare those either. In short, I love mine for all of it’s characteristics, and most people think it’s a diamond, but it probably doesn’t look like a diamond all the time.

Keep in mind the larger the stone, the more prone to color it is. 8.5 is pretty large. I think if you would scale back to a 7.5 or so, it would be a non-issue, but that may not be what you want to do, just a suggestion.

I am really color sensitive and I never see green in my amora round. I do see some yellow from time to time but never green.

If the color’s an issue, and you choose a setting that can have the stone changed fairly easily (like prong instead of bezel), this is what I’d do in your situation.  I’d get a cushion Asha, then replace the center stone with an Amora gem (it’s Silicon Carbide like moissanite, but has a different structure, so it’s whiter, plus has Hearts & arrows cut!  It’s not the same as Amora moissanite).  It’s a little uncertain when Amora will come out, but it might happen this Spring!

@specialkai: just out of curiousity, is your engagement ring a 1.6 c diamond?  Why upgrade from that?!?
