That doesn’t sound right to me. It sounds like they don’t know what they’re talking about when it comes to moissanites. I believe they’re discontinuing the Classic, if not already. Maybe it has to do with the cut of the moissanite. Or were you just saying it’s due to the small size? They sell loose moissanite as small as 0.06 (at least on moissaniteco)

I wouldn’t go with the Classic. Forever Brilliant if you want a warmer white or Forever Brilliant for a purer white.

That ring is gorgeous! They should be able to do the halo with moissanites. Not sure about the filigree because like you said not sure how small those diamonds really are. Do they not do custom work there? I would do more research like you said. Also I’d recommend looking for this design online or on Etsy where you can get it customized for a reasonable price. If they won’t make it for you to your liking, I’m sure someone else can/will.

eileenelly :  Pretty ring but you know f1 is moissanite too right? You know there are many ethical diamonds around?  I admit I’m surprised you would want moissanite which is created and manufactured to imitate diamond, given your dislike of diamonds.  Especially as your ring will be mistaken at times for a (“blood”) diamond….Although of course much much cheaper in cost.. . .

That being said, don’t think you will notice the difference between the different moissanites of the ring.

I would advise posting this on the ring board because there are loads of bees who regularly post there who know loads about moissanite.  I have an F1 solitaire and don’t know as much about the smaller moissanite stones, but I know the smallest sizes don’t come in F1 colour and used to be more prone to cracking, although the quality might have improved. F1 is very white so there will be a visible difference even with most small diamonds, depending on the quality. If you post on the ring board the bees there should be able to give you the best options.

kayteebee :  Actually they do make small F1 stones, the smallest being 0.06 on moissaniteco. Haven’t heard anything about the cracking.

jlhelmsdeep :  sorry, didn’t realise you could get F1 that small! The smallest we could find a while back was 0.25 but that must have been because they were out of stock or we weren’t looking in the right places lol. I read a few posts where bees had issues with cracked eternity band stones but they were old posts so I reckon that issue is likely long resolved.

Edit: apparently because of the way moissy is cut smaller stones (2mm or under) are more prone to cracking. Given how inexpensive they are to replace though this might not be a huge deal.

kayteebee :  Oh trust me I didn’t know either until a few days ago when I was on the website. It seems like there’s always something new.

Yikes! That’s crazy for being the 2nd toughest gemstone! Weird! I wish more places would offer moissanite accent alternatives, but I see why they don’t. They want the extra $$$.

jlhelmsdeep :  I know, there is new stuff coming out all the time! I can’t keep up lol! I agree with you that a lot of places want the extra money for the diamonds in settings! I have pasted a link below to a discussion about small moissy stones cracking. Defo seemed to be an issue for some people. I would probably take the risk given how cheap it would be to replace a stone though.
