Schubach’s has pear and radiants, you just need to email them.

And carat weight/mm depends on the cut.  8×5 is the closest to 1ct for a pear and 7×5 is the closest for a radiant.  🙂

If you’re talking about a 7mm round moissanite, then it’s equivalent to a 1.25 carat round diamond. A 6.5mm moissanite is a 1 carat!

laurenthurbon :  Because the density of a Moissanite and Diamond are different (just like a sapphire and diamond) that the weight (carat) and the mm are different. A 7mm Moissanite weights 1 carat, is the “equivalent” look to a diamond of 1.25 carat weight. But all diamonds are different, and “ideal” 1 ct diamond is 6.5mm but you could have a 1ct diamond be 6mm, 6.2mm or 6.7mm. THat’s why so many people can have a 1ct diamond and they all look different.

I think some sellers are trying to distance Moissanite from being a diamond sim to its own stone. When they are being sold as “equivalent” sizes to diamond you basically saying its a diamond sim, but selling it by its own weight and size showes it as it’s own stone.

laurenthurbon :  Just look at the mm/spread. For a 1.5 carat face-up, look for an oval 8.5*6.5 mm and a cushion with 7.5*7.5 mm.

With C&C losing their exclusive patent, several new sellers have entered the market. Neo moissanite and SUPERNOVA are two. The cut on C&C stones are hit-n-miss in term of cut quality. Neo and SUPERNOVA are more consistent. So, work through a re-seller like Josepth Schubach (Jcent mentioned above) who will hand-select a C&C stone, or contact [email protected] – she is the only seller I know of that sells all three brands of moissanite plus amora gem and can help you find the best cut for your chosen shape. Cut is the key to an amazing sparkle.

Forever1 is the whitest of the C&C moissy and comparison photos show a compelling difference in color. Neo and SUPERNOVA are already very white. Amora Gem range from colorless to near colorless, but I think their color rating are one-grade too high (i.e., it will be labeled a H but I find is more like an I).

Sellers, all have stock settings

Millimeter (mm) is a size of measure. 6.5 mm is the approx.equivalent size of a 1 carat diamond. It may be easier for you to buy your moissanite in diamond equivalency weight (dew). Since it is a diamond simulant it is often measured that way.

Moissanite and CZ and natural gems all have different “weights” therefore different ct weight are different millimeter sizes.

A con of moissanite is the rainbow like stain some of them get on the surface. Have to scrub to get it off and it is recurring.

Another is the splintery cut, can make it obvious that it’s not a diamond.

laurenthurbon :  Also have a look at videos on JHollywoodDesigns Instagram Site. She compares all the major brands of moissanite. Here’s a few, but she has so many.

Amora Gem vs. Neo Moissanite:

Supernova vs. Forever One vs. Neo.
