katek90 :  all the best to your search! Personally I find it hard to believe those “cellophane” pictures are moissanites… mine looks nothing like that!

I went with moissanites because I hate the whole diamond marketing story and artificially inflated prices too.

I have a .68 diamond in a solitaire setting and I love it. My niece got engaged with a 1 carat moissanite in a rose gold solitaire. It looks superb paired with her rose gold trinity wedding band. Bright and beautiful.

I’ve had Moissanite for years and I love it just as much as diamonds. I second getting a pair of earrings for a trial.  I have a pair of 1.5 cttw F1 H&A and I wear them almost every day.

givemesparkles :  beautiful stone! Where did you get it and is there a chance you could link the stone you got? Would love to read up on it and maybe convince my Darling Husband to get one! Haha

lovetwoloveme :  that is definitely true.  And jewelry stores have the best lights to accentuate sparkles!

They let me step outside with my stone to see it in daylight as well as in a shaded area.  I wanted to see how it  performed in all lights.

the only time my stone looks like crap is when it’s really dirty, so I make sure to keep it nice and clean.

What people need to understand is that when it comes to pictures of gems, there are 3 very important things to remember: lighting, lighting and lighting. Same holds true for gems in person. I have a D color diamond that I can make look very warm in certain light in my kitchen. And I have an N color diamond that is pretty white in some lighting.

As for the pictures of the “cellophane” moissanites, I think the effect is gorgeous. I’d love to have something that looks like that!

What I love about moissys is that they make big, beautiful white gems accessible to more people. I have diamonds and I have moissys and I love both. Plus, moissys allow me to have lots of variety without having too much money (at least to me – no judgment of anyone else!) tied up in jewels. (I already have a gem problem!  Lol). Just for fun, here are some diamonds and moissys. Without looking at my earlier posts can you tell which is which?  🙂  I own all but one (which is currently under consideration)

Mine is a Moissanite F1 2 ct equivalent with 1/2 ct side stones, so 3 ct total. I got it several years ago. I love it. It’s SO sparkly. I’ve had diamonds, in fact I had a diamond when we bought this ring. I wanted to go bigger, wanted rose gold instead of white gold, but I wasn’t purchasing a diamond for that price. We have the money, but it’s not me. I’m practical when it comes to money. I don’t mind splurging, but I’d rather splurge on things like my house, rather than jewelry. My entire set, including a 1/2 ct diamond band, and a plain milgrain band, costs approximately $2300. The thousands I saved paid for a pool that we can all enjoy. Not once has anyone ever said they know it’s not a diamond, nor has anyone ever said anything other than to gush over how gorgeous it is. I know many people will say they can tell, moissies look cheap, etc, but they don’t care imo. I can’t tell the difference, and in person my Moissanite looks better than most peoples diamonds. I work with wealthy women, live in an affluent neighborhood. No one has ever clocked it. Not that I care, but no one has ever asked, and many have said how jealous they are. Lol.

Just for fun this morning (because it is icy and I am procrastinating about going to work) I showed fiancé a bunch of pictures in this thread of rings. He didn’t know what the stone was, but could pick out which we’re not diamonds. His only experience was the crash course he got at visiting a bunch of jewelry stores when he was looking for a diamond that I would love.
