My husband says I get an upgrade. 🙂 yay! I see a lot of bee’s liking moissanite. I found a pear diamond 1.52ct for a decent price. Or I’m kindof considering going with a 2ct moissanite . What direction should I go for? Would would you do?

How is this even a question 🙂 ? The diamond. of course!!

Personally, I would never choose a moissanite over a diamond!

I would choose a Moissanite becuase they are so inexpensive. That’s just me though. SO won’t even consider buying me one becuase he’s so traditional.

@mandilynn0804: Diamond is the obvious choice to me as well.
However… have you done your research? Have you seen moissy in real life? They don’t look the same.
If you like diamonds and have had a diamond, you might not be happy w. moissanite. If you want people to think your 2 ct. moissanite is a diamond, then you probably should go w. a diamond.
Be prepared for lots of ‘is it real?!’ questions since 2 ct. is nothing to sneeze at. If you’re happy to answer with ‘yes, it’s a real moissanite’ then it might be the right choice for you.
They are different stones w. different properties so just know what you’re buying basically.

I have a moissanite and prefer it over a diamond, but I also didn’t expect the moissanite to look/act exactly like a diamond. It seems like people who buy the moissanite expecting it to be a perfect diamond simulant are usually unhappy. So if you really want a diamond, I’d go with that. 🙂
For what it’s worth, no one’s ever asked me what type of stone it is or if it’s “real” or any crap like that. Most just comment that’s it beautiful and move on with their lives, as they should. But something that large might draw some comments like PP mentioned, so you might be prepared for that.

I’d take the diamond without question. I’ve owned moissanite before and I was happy with it, but there were some real differences from diamonds. 1.52 ct is a very respectable diamond size and as long as it’s a good quality stone, I think it would look much better than moissy.

WOW!! You guys are so insightfully amazing. Thank you for ALL of your thoughts… I have read up on the moissey’s. I like that fact that they call it the “star” diamond, as it possesses the same components as a meteorite. Of course for any girl, the bigger the better, but just can’t seem to get myself to buy a 2ct diamond without feeling guilty about it. I have not seen a mossey in person though. But now reading your guys’ comments, I really needed this, as I tend to get side tracked with other options.

If money is not an issue, then I would go with the pear diamond. It’s definitely a good size and pears are so pretty.

Yes, do take a look at the moissy in real life! I had my heart set on moissy just from reading the reviews, but in person I just didn’t like it and I chose something else for my ring. You never know what your reaction will be so keep an open mind!

I would always choose moissanite over a diamond, but it depends on your preferrence. I would take a look at both stones (moissy and diamond) in person and see which one you like.

I have a moissanite and LOVE it! No one’s ever questioned if it’s real (not even jewelers before looking at it under the machine).
Even if money is not an issue, with moissanite you don’t have to worry about the stone being an ethical or environmental issue.
In the end it’s your choice, but don’t let anyone talk crap to you about moissanite. It’s a completely different stone, just like sapphires, rubies, etc.

if you can afford a pear diamond then why not get BOTH?! or order in a loose moissy, and if you change your mind just ship it back. moissaniteco allows that, last time I checked!
moissy has a dreamy soft shine, diamond has a harder colder shine. they’re not SUPER different, but different enough. I have both and honestly, I like both about the same. so for the monetal and ethical reasons, I’d always choose moissanite for myself.
