Hi guys, I know there are tons of posts already about Moissanites and diamonds but I wanna make it simple for those who are on the fence or who are like me and just simply curious!
I am a person who just wants a sparkly good sized ring without spending a fortune on it.. so i think my choice would be Moissanite. Ive never seen one in person though and I am curious if they really are more sparkly than diamonds.
If you have a Moissanite are you disappointed that you don’t have a diamond? Or do you simply love it more!
Please post pics and comments on this topic I am curious to see what you all think!

i have a diamond and i totally love it. i love the way it appears white and sparkly–and catches sunlight so beautifully.
that being said, i think moissanites are beautiful as well. they are not diamonds, but are beautiful as their own stone. i would totally be open to buying moissanite jewelry. if i had done more research before getting engaged, i would have looked into purchasing a moissanite ring.

I understand that some people think it’s silly but to me (and FI) diamond was the only choice for an engagement ring. Since he could afford it, we went with diamond and I love my diamond!
With that said, I think moissanite is really beautiful in its own right though. And I will totally buy some moissanite earrings and/or a moissanite right hand ring.

My engagement ring is a diamond I absolutely love it, but I would have been ok with a moissanite. Fiance was dead set on a diamond though.
MissTattoo has a stunning moissanite, hopefully she will come in and post her stunner. DeathByDesign also has a moissanite, she even has videos of it but I haven’t seen her in a few days.

@MissHockey: You can probably go to Macy’s or JC Penney’s and see Moissanite in person. I highly doubt they have enhanced Moissanite, however.

@deetroitwhat: I’m from Canada, No macy’s or JC Pennys here! haha But I do see some local jewelers have them.

I have always wanted a diamond engagement ring (as it is also my birthstone) and Fiance could afford it so we didn’t look to alternatives.
However, I also love Moissanite and may look into it for other jewelery rather than going the diamond route (i.e. stud earrings).

Moissanite’s were never an option for us, because I love diamonds, but I have seen some really pretty ones on the ‘bee! Go with what you can afford 🙂

I have a diamond and I love it. Honestly – I’ve always wanted a diamond ring as it is tradition in my family and it is my birthstone so I don’t think I personally would have been happy with a non-diamond e-ring. Luckily Darling Husband was on the exact same page as me!
That said – moissanites look beautiful (at least in the pictures I’ve seen) so I’m sure if you go with whatever you want, you will be happy with your choice!

They are. It’s just a fact and not meant to insult diamond owners. Some people get a little upset about these threads because apparently to praise one stone insults another.
Moissanite- Refractive Index (Brilliance) 2.65-2.69. Diamond-2.42
Moissanite-Dispersion (Fire or Bling) .104Diamond .044
Moissanite-Luster 20.4%Diamond- $17.2
Mohs Hardness Moissanite-9.25Diamond-10
I won’t go into my reasons on why we chose moissanite, but it was the best choice for me. I love it. Right now the sun is setting and I’m right by the window in my office and my ring is going nuts. That’s what I love about moissanite. It sparkles in any light, especially low light. It’s like sparkle parade when we go out in the evening to dinner somewhere.
Do what’s best for you. Don’t care about what anyone else has to say. An engagement ring is not a sign of status. It’s there to look pretty and remind you that you have a man/woman/whatever who wants to spend their life with you.
ETA: Added picture. I can’t wait to actually get professional photos of it. Droid only does so much.

I have diamonds in my e-ring, and I love it, but if I was more educated on moissanite when we were looking at rings, I probably would have chosen the moissy. Now I plan on getting one for a right hand ring.

Well, I don’t like colorless stones on me, so I wouldn’t get either. But I also don’t support the diamond trade so if i were to go with one it would probably be Moissanite.
