@luckyprincess: amazing! When I blogged about getting engaged, I told everyone it was moissanite and everyone was shocked!
Funny story. My cousin got engaged about two months after I did and he’s well off. His fiance is a bit spoiled from the trips he takes her on, the things he buys her, ect. So before they got engaged he asked her what kind of ring she wanted because she would be the one wearing it. She told him she wanted a 4ct diamond. Well, he’s well off but not that well off to drop that kind of money on a 4ct diamond and then turn around and pay for the wedding she wants. We were on Skype while he’s telling me this and I tell him about moissanite. I told him to talk it over with her first. If she was a diamond girl then that’s fine. He would have to find a way to compromise or drop the cost of a house on a ring. She was all about it. They got a 4ct loose stone for about $1800 and set it into his grandmother’s setting. I’m going to go search her Facebook page to see if I can find a picture. She was really weird about posting photos of it.

@MissHockey: I have a diamond ring, but simply because the center stone was given to my fiance by my mother = free ๐ Plus the proposal was a complete surprise, so I didn’t choose my ring. Don’t get me wrong, I love it, but if the situation had been different, I would have educated my Fiance on moissanite & DEFINITELY gone with it.
@Miss Tattoo: I never get tired of seeing that ring!

I have a diamond and I love it.
I’d never heard of a moissanite before WB, I’ve not seen then anywhere in the UK. The other thing I’d never heard of was paladium instead of platnum.
Also in the UK I don’t think its as common to have huge stones as it is in the states. For example I consider my 1c to be quite big.
My other half carefully researched and chose my ring and for that reason alone I love it.
If I had wanted a big stone for a lower price I’d go for paladium and moissanite.

I didn’t vote because there wasn’t an option that says, “I want a Moissanite, but if my bf gets me a diamond, I’ll take that as well.” I just want a pretty bit of sparkle on my finger. If it’s a moissanite, it’ll sparkle! If it’s a diamond, it’ll sparkle! Both are gorgeous and, well…. sparkly.

I have a ruby engagement ring but I’m (maybe unhealthily?) obsessed with moissaniteco!
is it sad that i just sometimes look at their site as a tasty eyecandy snack?
I think my fiancee is getting tired of me constantly sending him links to ones I like! hahaha

@Miss JoelsBee: Moissaniteco is my eye candy too. My sister and I send eachother our wishlists whenever they change, lol. I wish they had videos of their rings like Diamond Nexus Labs does, but then I would never leave my computer.

@Miss JoelsBee: You aren’t alone! I have my ring and STILL visit moissaniteco.com looking for bridal jewelery. I have my eyes on a moissanite and pink sapphire ring for my right hand right now.

Do you guys ever wonder why the diamond business still exists? You have moissanite, which has more sparkle, is only a fraction of the cost of a diamond, and is not associated with conflict/war, but diamond e-rings are everywhere.

I’ve showed Joel your photo of your ring at least 3 times! He’s like “yes. I know. Sparkly.” and I’m like “ya but…looooooooook!”

@Miss JoelsBee: ha ha ha ha “yeah but…” that is hilarious because I do that with Mr. T also! I’ll be looking at dresses and go OH LOOK! and he’s like “I’ve seen it before!” and I’m like “yeah but….” ha ha ha.
@ATP2011: Probably because moissanite doesn’t have the same prestige as a diamond. Also, the moissanite industry doesn’t have billions of dollars to advertise like diamonds do. I’m sure it will get there one day. I’m sure once humans destroy enough of the planet by drilling large holes in it and something bad happens, people will be more aware of where things need to come from. Baby steps.
