Even though diamonds are my birthstone and I worekd for an estate jewelry firm years ago and personally handled on daily basis $50K- $5M in jewels in, I was never that big on diamonds. I liked them but never was oogoo gaga. However, like most women i was brainwashed by diamond industry and thought our relationship was going to be judged by the size of the rock. Thankfully, a few years ago I became educated on lie that pushed down our thoats about diamonds being rare and learned of moissys and other gemstones. I don’t know what I’ll end up with, but I don’t foresee it being a diamond.

We just purchased a 1 carat enhanced Moissanite from Moissanite Co. on Friday and received it on Monday. I LOVE it! It has so much fire! (I see no tinge of yellow or green with the enhancement) I had never seen one in person (that I know of) and I must say that I am extremely happy with our decision! It well be set in a diamond, micro pave band with milgrain edging and I will also be getting the matching diamond band (both totaling $2500 + $430 for my 1 carat enhanced moissanite = MANY thousands less than if we had purchased my setting with a 1 carat diamond!) The money that we saved by buying a moissanite center stone will pay for almost half of our wedding. To me the ring itself is the symbol of the love and commitment – not the diamond. That being said – I still LOVE the artistic beauty of engagement rings and cannot wait to proudly admire my ring for the rest of my life!!! We have 4 beautiful children and I could not justify spending thousands on my center stone! That money can be well spent on our kids and their extra curricular activites, it doesn’t need to go on my finger. I honestly wouldn’t want the responsibilty of wearing $10,000 + on my finger. I would be scared to lose it or break it. – I am 110% happy with my moissanite and after we purchase my setting and band – I will never buy diamonds again. I am even going to upgrade my diamond studs to some moissy ones 🙂
