    I guess I’m bias since my engagement ring is only black diamonds but I just love the look of that ring. Also since black diamonds have a previous meaning in your relationship I can see why he’d be leaning that way. In the end though its going to be the ring that you wear forever so you have to be happy and none of us can tell you what you’re going to look back on and love in 5 years, let alone 50. Good Luck!

    I personally like moissanite better for it has more fire, but not that many people like that much of fire. Sapphire is very beautifull for the clear almost resembles nice clean cut ice. I’de say it depends on what type you like, there are advantages to both gem stones.

    Here’s my moissanite halo:

    It depends on what you want? Do you want bling? Then get the moissanite.

    I can’t answer about white sapphire since I don’t have one. I don’t know the properties of a white sapphire (hardness, fire, brillance, ect) I think there are some bees here that do have white sapphire.

    Why not do moissanite & black diamonds? Any jeweller should be able to make it.

    I actually like the look of white sapphires. I don’t like flare (don’t kill me!) and I like the clear, crystalized look of sapphires. But this might look like glass to others.

    You might want to consider skin tone in this. The slight blue hue in white sapphires compliments Asian skin nicely. My cousin got a blue sapphire ring on white gold and it looks gorgeous on her!

    @mireisen: That’s funny you mention the glass thing, because I think there is a bee here who said people ask her often if her white sapphire is glass. I’ve never seen one in person. I do love blue and pink sapphires though!

    Laurie Sarah is a designer/seller on Etsy. Here are some more pictures of a white sapphire center stone (with diamonds around it).

    Again, the “glass” transparent kind of look is clear in these (I personally dig it…big time).

    I just received a pair of white sapphire earrings and they look like crap.  I am returning them.  They look like cloudy diamonds and have very little sparkle.  The picture I sawa of the stones looked fabulous.  In person, the stones are horrendous.  Absolutely very little sparkle compared to my diamond ring.  And, before you start in on me having a diamond, it was a family stone.

    And … quick question … aren’t black diamonds still diamonds?  Don’t they come from the DeBeers monopoly?

    White sapphires look like CZ’s most of the time.  I have Moissanite jewelry and love it.  Explain to Fiance that moissie is basically the result of man being able to speed up the process of nature to create a diamond.  You can buy a loose stone and have it set in the wht sapphire ring you like.

    My white sapphire earrings look crappier than CZs.  Just horrible.  So disappointed.  I think I’m going to get moissonites instead.  Sure, they’re more but they won’t look like crap!

    Attempted pictures but my lighting isn’t good.  If I get around to it, before I pack them up to go back, I’ll make an attempt in the morning.

    Am so angry that I wasted my time and money and have to send them back.  I swear, I am sticking with local jewelry stores where I can see what I’m buying before purchasing it!!

    @BanditGirl:

    Were your earrings lab-created or natural? I wonder if that makes a difference..?
