@Jane8530 actually he bought my ring from MoissaniteCo.com.

I liked their setting and wanted to purchase the whole ring together. It hasn’t come in yet, but I’m sure you can tell from these other ladies’ posts that moissanite is truly beautiful and unique!

Basically all of the reasons as everyone else has already stated.

– I knew what size of gem I wanted (I’m quite large-fingered and have a certain ‘style’), but I couldn’t justify to myself wearing something worth $10,000 on my finger when I could have something just as beautiful, flawless and durable for less than $1,000

– I couldn’t bear to think that there was a chance my essentially frivilous sparkle could possibly be the cause of human pain and suffering (which can’t be 100% excluded with diamonds)

– although I wanted a colourless stone, I’ve found I love the personality of the unenhanced moissy stones

We bought from MoissaniteCo, and they were amazing! They made my ring in less than a week (it said leave 1.5-2 weeks for delivery) and it arrived super quick even though it had to travel halfway around the world. It’s PERFECT and I couldn’t be happier.

  1. The sparkle! OMG I love the sparkle!
  2. Knowing that it isnt a blood diamond!
  3. Was able to get the size I want for UNDER our budget
  4. Awesome history. I love that is was discovered from a metor even if mine is man made it is fun to know how it was discovered.
  5. It is tough enough for being able to wear everyday!
  6. LOVED that is has a life time warenty on the stone!
  7. It has so much sparkle and is so pretty I serioulsy sometimes space off just looking at my ring.
  8. Look at it 🙂 lol

i got my moissy for alot of personal reasons,

-i came from a very comforatable house hold where diamonds we given often and not always as a gift, but an apology.

-i didnt want to wait two years so that my Fiance could save up money to purchase an overly priced stone that meant nothing to me.

-i think that some thing that came from the sky is way cooler than some thing that came from the ground

but in the end the strongest arguement was that they are beautiful!!!! also why the hell not lol

Thanks both, I am rather enthralled with them too. I can stare at them for ages looking at the cool snowflake/flower patterning and kozibe effect and the chunky flashes. Not so good when I should be doing work!  Embarassed

1. Ethics (I am not a tree-hugger/eco person at all, but after having researched the diamond industry I could never support it again — the diamonds I do own I’m embarassed to wear now,  they stay in my jewellery box)

2. Durability (I love all the superior physical properties of moissanite)

3. Color (we considered many other colors but in the end both preferred white stones for my everyday ring)

Those are pretty much the main reasons we went with moissanite. Lab-created diamonds and white sapphires were runners-up, but moissy now seems so superior to me that I couldn’t imagine going with anything else! Also I love the history of it, its industrial applications, and, of course, that it is freaking gorgeous.

Price was initially a factor as well, because I thought it was ridiculous to spend too much $$ on jewellery, but we ended up spending more on the moissy than we were considering for other stones. I got a bit ring crazy & suddenly appreciate these baubles much more, so my husband has happily adjusted his budget accordingly, lol.

I dont have min yet, we just ordered last week, so im hoping it would come in this week.. but my reasoning is, ITS AMAZING- I hate diamonds, [ my personal opinion– I hate how a ” diamond ” is what a girl ” should buy ” ] Moissanites are a stone all on its own– Its more sparkly then a diamond, 1/3 of the price and STUNNING..

@Sunfire:  I totally would have went with a moissy if I didn’t already have a ring on my finger. I wish my Fiance knew about them so he didn’t spend so much on a diamondUndecided I had never even heard of moissanite until joining weddingbee.

1) It’s a space rock! Way cooler, In My Humble Opinion, than a piece of compressed coal

2) Price. It makes me sick to my stomach to think of having something the price of a car on my hand. There are just so many more practical things that that money can go to.

3) More sparkle/fire. I tried on many diamonds and just wasn’t in love with what I was seeing. My moissanite always makes me smile when the light catches it.
