Hi, bees! So, I am in love with Moissanite and particularly Neo Moissanite. I was wondering for those of you ladies who have Moissy rings, do you notice your stone has a yellowish hue in indoor lighting especially? I just read an article about NSCD Simulated Diamonds and in that article it said Moissanite has a yellowish hue to it. I personally have not noticed this when I saw moissanite in person in the past, but I did not know to look for it either. I wanted some opinions from those who have moissanite themselves. Thanks ladies! Feel free to post pics with your replies!

I have a Forever Brilliant round solitaire, so it isn’t the newer, whiter moissanite. It still looks white, no yellow. Not colorless, like a D-E-F diamond, but white.
In certain lighting I see a grayish tint. In soft indoor lighting, like a lamp lit room, it looks the most white. What I’ve observed can make it look less than white, to me, is the strong rainbow flashes.

I ordered a loose NEO and it definitely had a yellow hue to it and it looked very milky. Granted, it was a “near colorless” but I’d say it was more J-K-L than G-H-I. I sent it back. Other than an India moissanite, I haven’t seen any of the other, newer brands in person so I can’t say they’re all like that. I saw a classic moissanite in JCPenney forever ago when they used to carry them and I loved it, but it definitely had a hint of green.

I would say my Forever One moissy has the slightest yellow tint indoors- it’s not very noticeable at all and doesn’t seem to photograph yellow. Outside however it can almost look aquamarine in certain lighting- I personally love it- I think the color difference is really only noticeable to me because I have a lot of diamonds surrounding.

My F1 is never yellow. It’s either white/whitish grey or shooting off rainbows lol

dracarys : Where did you get your Neo from and when did you purchase it? I have watched COUNTLESS youtube videos of Neo moissanite and it looks absolutely beautiful! I don’t want to purchase something that I’m not going to be happy with, so just wanted to ask where and when. Thanks!

rebeccajane : Fire & Brilliance back in October. Trust me, I watched all the vids too and was pretty confident in my purchase, but when I got it, sad trombones played. I lost about $85 returning it; even though it’s a store credit, there isn’t anything cheap enough for me to buy from them.
If I ever do buy a moissanite, it’ll either be a round brilliant from August Vintage or an emerald cut from ENV.

Moissanite comes in a lot of different hues/tones/intensities Compared to natural diamond fancy colors, Moissanite has its own unique brilliance.

My Harro Gem moissy is never ever yellow. In fact it’s almost too white for me. I wish it did have a tad bit of warmth

The forever brilliants can have a hue to them in certain lighting, but it’s really hard to see. The forever 1’s are chalk white. Also as the pp^ stated, the harro’s and the neo’s usually do not have this issue.

I have a F1 H&A cut and I just love the sparkle. I don’t think mine has yellow hues even in yellow lighting. Here are some pics.

Indoor, yellow lighting

It’ll be more white or blue-ish, but never yellow.

marriedalready69 : Have you seen Neo’s in person by chance? In all the videos I have watched they look to be stunning. What are your thoughts on them if I may ask?
