Just wanted to give an update for those interested. TL;DR, ring was delayed a whole extra week, but it wasn’t necessarily MoCo’s fault and I think they handled the inconvenience properly by giving me a 20% discount (about $300 off).
So I was told when my ring was found to have a loose stone that it would be re-evaluated within 48 hrs. Around the afternoon of the 2nd day I sent an email asking if my ring had been fixed, and if it was going to ship. I received a reponse an hr or 2 later saying that it was being prepared to ship. Yay! …Maybe an hr after this I got another email saying that it would not be shipped as promised, (NOOOO) and the ring would have to be completely re-made as the jeweler got the model# wrong (double NOOOOOO). They sincerely appologized for the mistake and initiated a 20% refund for the inconvenience, and said they would do their best to make sure this ring was expedited so it wouldn’t be another 2 weeks.
Why I do believe that this wasn’t totally MoCo’s fault: I had originally narrowed down my choices to 2 rings, after much back and forth I thought I’d decided and placed my order. Then 30 min later realized I made the wrong choice and preferred the other, so I emailed them asking to change the model# on my order and to just charge me the difference. I can see on the notes for my order that this request was put in right away, and when I checked again the next morning my order details were updated with the new model# info. I can only assume the jeweler had missed or otherwise ignored the update request and made the original ring model.
While I am annoyed (and that’s putting it mildly) that my ring is taking 3.5 weeks rather than the original 2 it would have, had it actually shipped when I was first told it would, I don’t totally blame MoCo for the issue and do feel that the 20% off made up for the disapointment of having to wait longer. My ring is currently waiting at the local fedex facility waiting to be picked up (couldn’t be home to sign for it today), so I will update you all with pictures once I get home from work.
