So as some of you know, I sent my moissanite ring back because it shattered from hitting a wooden desk (more info in the previous post: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/moissanitecocom-horror-story-long)
I was supposed to receive it today as they had shipped it back to me, but they had lied about the value of the ring. The actual price is $1065.00 but they put it as $100. It states on their website that they do this to defer theft, but they exclude Canada and Australia. And I live in Toronto, Canada. FedEx opened the package and rejected it because they knew it was definitely worth more.
So instead of getting my ring today, I got a pretty nasty phone call from FedEx asking why they did this and if I had asked them to do this so I could avoid being taxed the full amount.
Keep in mind, I’ve already paid for the taxes! I paid the full $145 for taxes at the door the first time FedEx sent the ring to me, but apparently MCo didn’t state that this was a warranty-covered repair on the invoice they sent, so on top of me being accused for trying to pay less tax, I also have to pay the tax for the ring AGAIN! (Another $145) I told them I kept the original tax receipt so thankfully I’m off the hook for that one.
So during the call with FedEx, I explained what happened, and they said this wasn’t my fault, and they said MCo shouldn’t have done this because now it may take WEEKS for the ring to be shipped to me because they have to launch an investigation (since this is considered a federal crime). I told them MCo must have done it by mistake, and that’s what MCo is also telling me.
I contacted MCo and they said that they made a mistake and will fix it, but at the same time, why did they do this… I’m happy they are fixing this, but they should really check these things before they send them out.
I am so mad I can’t put it into words properly. I also had to pay the return shipping to send the ring back to them, and that was another $110 out of FI’s pocket.
EDIT: I’m talking to them now, and the FedEx officer I spoke to said he is handling this matter directly and told me to give his contact info to MCo, and now MCo is saying they don’t need it because they’ll get it done through their own channels… what? I gave it to them anyways because the FedEx officer said he’s waiting for me to get back to them.
I just want this to be over so I can have my ring back 🙁
