I just wanted to write a review for this company as I spent a lot of time searching for a company to make my ring and used reviews on here, BTD and other forums a lot to make my decision.
My experience wasn’t an entirely positive one. I was so very close to ordering from MoCo (It was going to be a custom design) but I had started to have second thoughts. I tried to look up more reviews but they didn’t help alleviate my worries.
For starters, I felt their communication could be better, they were slow to respond to emails and I sometimes had to send multiple emails to get a response. Also, my questions were not always addressed in the replies they sent and I therefore had to ask questions about return policy etc. multiple times as well before I got a satisfactory response.
Another thing was that they said they would not provide pictures of the final product before sending it out because they are not professional photographers and if I found any flaws with the ring I would have to send it back to them to fix (I assume this would be at my expense from what I’ve read).
Finally, when I tried to contact the owner about my concerns (I tried to do this through BTD), he simply deleted/ignored my message.
I feel like I doged a bullet in working with this company. I had the listing and was about to initiate payment but due to the concerns mentioned above I decided to wait for a little while and make sure that I made the best choice for myself and that I wasn’t working with them simply because they gave me the lowest quote. I just don’t believe that the satisfaction of the customer is a very high priority for them

Aww I’m sorry you had a negative experience! I had no problems working with them, but I also didn’t have a ring custom made. If you still want moissanite, I suggest Schubachs (i never get the spelling right) or David Klass. I’ve heard amazing things about both and I likely would’ve gone through them if I had been better educated… Not that I don’t love my ring or anything! They just do great custom work.

@sleepyhead22: ITA re: Schubach’s and David Klass.
OP, Sorry about your experience. I once ordered (and returned) an item from this company – it was also my perception that customer satisfaction seemed to not be a very high priority. In the end, we had to pay a substantial restocking fee after returning the ring so it was a very negative overall experience.
I wish you better luck in the future!

I acutally didn’t order from them as in the end I went with my gut feeling and decided that if I wasn’t 100% happy with the discussion so far that I shouldn’t go with them.
I am now in the process of working with Schubachs. Their customer service so far has been excellent and they will begin work on my ring soon. I’m excited to be working with them and they even worked with me on the price. The rep that I have been communicating with is very friendly and responsive.

@starla: That’s a bummer! Thank goodness for the reviews because otherwise I may have ended up in a situation like yours.

I know that most people here love MoissaniteCo and we are the minority here, but I second your thoughts. I have emailed them before and they have responded but only to one part of my question and their responses are very short and clipped.
They also charge restocking which is substantial.
I’ve heard their sizes are slightly off.
I think in the beginning they may have been better but as they have gotten more popular, customer service could have started sliding.

@lilsweetie: Yeah, I heard about the sizes being off as well.

@Missy E: My ring was not sized correctly either! I ordered an 8.5 (half a size too big, the size I usually wear on my right hand) and it was very snug. Tighter than an 8 (which is what I wear on my ring finger – I like my rings about 1/2 size larger than needed so my true size is 7.5). I did take the band width into consideration as well when I chose the size.
In all fairness and as a sidenote, I was PM’d on another board by a MoCo rep with a sincere apology for my past experience. I did appreciate that. But this was recently…the ring was sent back a year ago.

@Missy E: YUP!! Sizing is a about 1/2 size larger than everywhere else. I got my ring as a size 7 and I find it’s too big, but if I try on a sizr 7 ring or even with a ring sizer it’s off. I had them Size the ring itse;f and it’s a full half size too big. Now I have to pay $50 and shipping from Canada to have it fixed. I started out loving these guys, abut I feel like now that I have the ring, they don’t care.

I didn’t think MoCo did custom at all… I think they’re probably great if they have exactly what you’re looking for and it’s a straightfoward order, but I can see them struggling to meet very special requests.

@Ellyson: Well, I sent them an image and asked if they could do it and they said they could. I don’t know how it would have turned out if we actually went all the way with it. So my review has nothing to do with their actual product but more to do with their not so great customer service.
@nambi_pambi: See that’s what I was afraid of and that’s why in the end I decided not to go with them. Having to pay shipping back and forth to fix something that never should have been an issue in the first place.
@starla: It’s nice that they apologized but that seems like too little too late.

Is anyone able to clarify the difference between moissaniteco and BTD? Are they owned by the same people? Or are they completely different companies? I emailed moissaniteco over a week ago with an equiry about one of their rings and I’m yet to hear back. Whereas I emailed BTD a few days ago about a moissanite loose stone and I received a very polite and helpful response the next day.
Btw, I’m sorry to hear you had a negative experience with them. Better luck for the future!

Sorry you had such a bad experience. I had no issues, but then again I never emailed them with any questions. Both times I ordered from them (once for earrings, second time Fiance for ring) I just placed my order and got the items without any problems. We will see what happens in the future when I have to contact them about buying the matching wedding band that we didn’t get at the same time as e-ring…

@Miss_Lala: From my understanding they are not the same company and are not owned by the same people. However, I do believe that they work together e.g. BTD supplies Amora moissanite to MoCo

I ordered a loose stone in the past and I ended up not liking it and I was able to return it without problem but my email correspondences were not very helpful. I also experienced a lot of delay like others are talking about. I’ve heard people rave about their custom work so I know that’s common for them, but I agree their service wasn’t what I expected. Mostly though, I was disappointed with the moissanite and the way it looked nothing whatsoever like a diamond.
