I don’t have plat.. just the 2 tone in white gold.  And yes-custom will not be able to be returned you are correct.  I’ve not read anywhere about problems with a white gold head vs platinum.  You also have to remember that anyone looking at it will just see mixed metals.  Most will assume it’s WG anyway.  Also-you’ll have to have a local jeweler that works with plat.  My guy won’t work on platinum at all.  He says it requires different tools because of the hardness, he deals in gold only.  Not sure if that matters with your location or not.  Just thought I’d bring it up.  I assumed that *all* jewelers would be able to work with/on platinum, but mine doesn’t.

thesquidsfist :  yep I do believe you are.  Moissanite is becoming so much more mainstream, and even if your jeweler has never heard of it, there are no worries for him because of the hardness of the stone.  I understand that some will not work with cz because it is softer and I get that.  But there shouldn’t be any worries with the moissanite.  Also-with just the head being white gold, I wouldn’t worry about having it redipped any time soon.  You’re going to have to get it cleaned/checked once a year to make sure the prongs are in tip top shape anyway.  No worries 🙂  Moissaniteco will even show you a few different stones and let you pick the one you want.  They’re really great to work with.  Good luck !!
