I wanted to ask those of you who had purchased from moissaniteco.com how your experience has been.
We have been ring shopping to assist my FH with the styles so that he can purchase and propose 🙂
My dilemma is I found two rings. One at Zales which is going to cost $1350 (after taxes and warranty) then another at Moissaniteco.com that will cost about $955-1050 (not sure if they charge taxes).
How was their customer service (moissaniteco.com)? What did/would you do if a stone falls out? Do they cover that? Also what about when it’s time to get the ring replatted since it is white gold it will probably turn to it’s original shade will they do that for free or would you have to pay for them to do that?
I LOVE the ring at Moissaniteco.com but I’m afraid of the long term affect. Sending the ring back and forth, having to pay extra $$$ to get things done like stones replaced, cleaning, replatting, etc.
I like the ring at Zales. It’s a nice ring and very good reviews. I actually got to try that one on which is a plus. The ring has real princess and round diamonds. They also have the lifetime warranty on their diamonds. So if any of the diamonds fall out they replace them. They do a cleaning and replatting every 6 months for no charge.
What do you think bees? Please help.

Would you consider going with palladium if you ordered from MoissaniteCo? That’s one less thing you have to worry about in the long run (re-plating).

Moissaniteco is AWESOME! I’ve attached a pic of my wedding set. Their customer service is amazing. I recommend you buy palladium since it requires no replating (just like platinum, just less dense.) Palladium costs maybe an additional 90 dollars but it’s totally worth it. My ring hasn’t changed color at all and I’ve had it since December.
If a stone falls out, you can mail it to them and have it fixed. As for cleaning, I have my ring cleaned all the time at the mall for free. Just go to any jeweler and ask, and they will usually do it free of charge.
You get a warranty with your ring that says if your moissanite ever loses its brilliance they will replace it. Just make sure you know your size when you order (so try rings on at another store.) If you need it resized, you can mail it to them. If you have it resized by another jeweler, then you lose your warranty.
Despite a few hassles, I highly recommend moissaniteco.com. We even lost our warranty and they emailed us another. They even customized my wedding band. I have gotten so many complements on my ring. People can’t stop saying how sparkly it is.

@Masala: I will definitely look into that. It appears it’s about $100 or so more. Not too bad. Especially if it doesn’t have to be replatted.
@LittleAudrey: Your ring is beautiful! I love a few styles on Moissaniteco.com. Thanks for the insight. I may have to look into Palladium. I hear that it’s a bit more “fragile” since it’s a little more pure. I just don’t want to damage the precious ring 🙁
Are Palladium bands expensive???

I’ve been looking at reviews all morning and it appears that moissaniteco.com gets an F from the BBB. I’m not sure if I’m comfortable with purchasing from them despite the few success stories I’ve heard. So I’ve made my decision. I just rather him purchase from a reputable dealer and have direct access in the event that issues arise. Thanks again everyone.

Are you sure? I looked them up, too, because I’m planning to order my wedding band from them and found their ratings page: http://www.bbb.org/houston/business-reviews/jewelers-retail/moissanite-company-in-humble-tx-22010682/

This is my engagement ring!

Really? The Better Business Bureau gave it an F? You can read hundreds of testimonials of people satisfied with moissaniteco.com. Are you sure the BBB doesn’t have some alterior motive for giving it an F? The diamond industry is pretty corrupt. I was very skeptical ordering my ering online, but their products have exeeded my expectations %100. I couldn’t say no to a product that cost 5 times less than a diamond and had twice as much fire as is the second hardest mineral on earth.
Palladium is very sturdy. I worked at a coffee shop all summer and definitely banged my ring VERY hard on the stainless steel counter several times and have had no damage to my ring. Any scratches can be buffed away on palladium with out losing metal, just like platinum. Platinum is so expensive because it’s twice as dense as palladium.
Sorry if I sound cheesy, but I love my ring and people freak out everytime they see it. They can’t believe it was only $800. I want every girl I know to know about this awesome website. And the do have a 30 day no questions asked return policy, so if you order something and decide against it, you have nothing to lose.
allieisasweety Thanks! I searched for months for the ultimate wedding band, and I decided I love the mismatched look.

@PrettySedity: Your ring is beautiful!!!!!!
I’m not sure about the F rating by the BBB. In fact when I went to look, the BBB doesn’t even have a rating for moissaniteco.com but there are seriously thousands of positive reviews out there on other wedding boards and google. I’m pretty confident from ordering from them.

Please please please be careful online. i just don’t think it is worth the risk.
Hands down if you are set on it make sure the retailer has GIA certified diamonds and will give you the GIA report number so that you can verify it on their website.
I always recommend going to a local reputable shop. it doesn’t have to have a big brand name. Just honest and reputable, but make sure that they also carry GIA certified diamonds. That way you can compare costs and quality.
My fiance and I went to a local store. They put together an engagement ring for me (at a fraction of even online prices) and now they are designing me a wedding band. The customer service is great with a small shop. Plus they will clean and service your ring for free usually if you buy from there 😉

@bridecat200: This thread is about moissanite so they don’t come with a GIA certificate because they aren’t diamonds. I have not read one bad review about moissaniteco.com

I was planning on ordering a ring from Moissaniteco.com, but was a little bit worried about their return policy, as anything under ring size 4.5 is considered a special order and thus not returnable. I ended up going to a custom jeweler who had experience working with Moissanite, and ended up paying less. Just a thought!

I bought my ring recently from Moissaniteco.com and just wanted to add my .02 for anyone else that might be thinking of buying from them. I think the ring is beautiful! The stone is super sparkly and appears very white. The band isn’t exactly what I expected, partially because their images are so heavily edited, I imagine. I expected the band to widen more toward the stone. I’m including images of my ring and the one on their site for comparison. That said, I think it’s lovely and it’s something I can be happy to wear for (hopefully) the rest of my life!
I’m going to give my overall experience a B, though. When the ring first arrived, the stone was noticeably chipped! I notified sales through the website within an hour of delivery and was told I could send the ring back. I did so, but never heard back from them for a week. No receipt confirmation or anything. I emailed them again and was told the ring would ship the next day – it took two. The company didn’t refund me the shipping cost, which would have been nice, but is no huge deal. The overall the lack of attention to detail is concerning when something that costs so much is involved, but that’s also the risk I took by buying something online.
Edit: Also, regarding the BBB rating, here was the site I found when I was researching the company. I don’t know why it’s called ‘Firecut Diamonds’ here, but the website is the same, and located near where my ring shipped from. Their rating is a B+. @BerlinLee: I think it’s just the perspective of the photo- it looks like it widens as it gets closer to the stone because that’s the part that’s closest to you.
Regardless, I think the ring you wound up with is beautiful!
