collegebee :  It is an Antique Cushion Cut. You should definitely check them out! The chunky facets are TDF. Mine is a Radiance Moissanite from Joseph Schubach Jewelers. JSJ does lots of customer work and have a great online presence. I highly recommend them! But Moissaniteco also has them as well as lots of Etsy sellers. Mine is 7.5 mm, 2.2 carat equivalent. My finger is a size 6, the ring is a 6.25 so I can stack. This picture? This was the day Darling Husband gave it to me and I was waiting to pick the kids up from school and couldn’t wait to take photos of it lol! I can’t wait to see what you choose! It’s such a fun time 😊

So many pretty rings in this thread. I can wait to wear my 5 stone moissanite wedding band. I love my sapphire ering, but I like sparkles too, especially rainbow sparkles. Here’s a pic of my ering and moisseys together, before they get made into my wedding band and probably get put on FI’s wedding band too(yeah they are all pointing different ways, but the color actually matches).  At first he wanted something plain and said no diamonds, but he likes the moissey sparkle too lol. So we’re going to the jewelers Saturday to look at custom setting ideas for him too. I’ve already found mine and he jeweler only quoted $275 to make the setting and set the moisseys in it.

FutureDrAtkins :  I own diamonds and moissanite. I have not had an issue with the stain I keep reading about and honestly I like my moissy better than my diamonds and wear it more. Is the stain visible just looking straight down at the stone? I invision an oil slick, LOL and I know that can’t be what it looks like.

lovealljewels :  yes it’s visible

Current situation

Circular grey stain on table and stains all around the facets of the crown, make it look really grey and dingey overall

FutureDrAtkins :  Oh wow…I am so sorry. Your set is stunning. Are you replacing with a diamond or another gem? Thank you for taking the time to post the picture, I appreciate it.

lovealljewels :  yeah, I’m going to eventually need to replace it with a diamond. I heard back from Schubach’s and they said this happens to all moissanites, just to different degrees. They compared it to the patina that copper develops 🤷‍♀️

pixxiefox :  I agree with every word, lol. Mine is a diamond and it sparkles rainbows too, sometimes. They’re kind of hard to catch in a photo, though! I’ve actually ended up filming some teeny tiny rainbows running on my forearm while moving my hand in the sunlight a while back, haha! I find those really fascinating!

Here’s a pic of my engagement ring:

Anyway, I see OP already decided on a moissy and I think that’s a really good idea! I probably would have picked a moissy too, but I didn’t even know about their existance at the time (they aren’t popular at all where I live) and, long story short, I didn’t even know he was planning to propose, lol. But of course I love my man and I fell in love with the ring as well and I am sure I would have loved whatever he would have picked.

mrsgreeneyes :  Hi Bee,

I feel that step cut moissanites are very easily “found out”.  I’m an emerald lover and I can hardly stop myself from grimmacing every time I see an emerald cut moissanite.  They’re just so mirrory and rainbowy that it’s a dead giveaway! I really hate them.

That being said, oval moissanites are stunning.  A vintage cut one is like one of the most swoon-worthy stones I’ve ever laid eyes upon.

desertgypsy :  I’ve fallen in love with all the ACCs on this board!  😍. May I ask what colour is your ACC?

I have both diamonds and moissy. My e-ring is a cushion moissy. Here is a comparison photo with my mom’s diamonds, under my bathroom lights which is where I see the most rainbows. It’s hard to capture them in photos. I stack my e-ring with both bands and spacers: the straight baguettes are moissy and the princess cut band are diamonds.

Here is my set by a window, mix of diamonds and moissanites and I have no regret. Also no stain on any of mine. I clean them with dish soap or baking soda.

Chexk out jhollywood’s instagram she has a lot of videos of how moissy behaves in different lights. You could always buy loose stones (with the possibilities of refunds) and pick the one you like most to have it set. Or, if you then realize moissy is not for you then you can get a diamond or other stone. I went with a moissy for a few different reasons but the one that sold me was because my Fiance is in law enforcement and wears a bullet proof vest, silicon carbide is used in those vests.

Good luck to you!
