elbee723 :  1.not to me but have seen it on this forum a lot and another. Takes a lot of scrubbing have heard.

2. I baby mine but have seen here posted a pic . Diamond is like 3 times stronger but you don’t have to worry much with moissy it’s tough.

3. A fake stone? People do judge moissy as a fake diamond. I can tell moissy and so can friends. The bigger the easier. I have seen those white out pics to.

4. Sorry bee don’t know about haro gem moissy

5. Forever Brilliant is more yellow and has the dark center more  Forever One pics look whiter better.

6. Not sure

7. That’s a great size for moissy. I would go with the Amora gem moissy because the cut in pics looks better to me.

8. I have an indian moissy from EBay. We didn’t pay much. My fiance and me are saving for a real diamond. Not gonna lie, he doesn’t like simulants and me neither, there pretty but not for my forever ring. There not always ethical either. Some are made or cut in poor country’s. My moissy is a littl

I’ve never gotten any stains on my moissanite. And I’ve never had any durability issues either. As far as it looking fake, I think mine looks extremely realistic.

Here’s my oval harro gem. It’s a little over 9×6 and is said an E-F in color.

And here’s a Colorless 2 carat hearts and arrows moissy that I used to have. I ended up selling it because I felt it was too big, and it was unrealistically white in my opinion, and the intense rainbow sparkle did bother me. If you decided to go with a Hearts and arrows cut from moissaniteco.com i high recommend going with the Near Colorless option as these are still white without any warmth or undertones but arnt as stark white as the Colorless ones are.

elbee723 :  thanks! And yes my harro gem oval is far less white, it’s said to be an E-F but to me it looks closer to a G or maybe even an H. I’ve never seen any warmth at all, but it’s not bright white either. This stone has far less rainbow sparkles than the hearts and arrows I had. It has a nice mix of white flashes with a little bit of fire, so very similar to the behavior of a diamond. I can only speak for the oval, the other harro gem shapes very well could have the same characteristics that the F1 moissanite has.

1. No stain on mine so far, but everything I’ve read says if you get the “oil slick” a Sunshine Polishing Cloth will take it off with a fair bit of elbow grease.

2. I am not a delicate person by any means, and have knocked this thing about pretty well and nothing noticable has happened. And I trust the MOH’s scale… so I won’t be rubbing diamonds on it any time soon, but other than that I’m not worried.

3. Mine has so much depth, it’s amazing.  It has never looked like glass. And IDGAF what other people think of my ring, I love it, DH loves it.  End of story.

4-8. I don’t have any experience with Charles and Colvard, I ordered my stone custom cut through Joseph Schubach Jewelers, I think they call their Moissanite ‘Radiance’ or something like that.  And I deliberately chose a Champagne color because I love love love the warmth.

9. I don’t regret it at all!  I have wanted a moissy for 10 years and am so stoked to finally have one!  And I love how unique it is because of the interesting cut (antique cushion cut) and color.

And now I will spam you with photos cool

elbee723 :  I know Schubach’s also makes the ACC’s in near colorless as well, like G,H,I.

elbee723 :  Just a comment on the strength issue because you’re confused, moissanite is stronger than diamond. There is a difference between strength/toughness (how hard it is to chip a material) and hardness (how hard it is to scratch the serface of a material). Moissanites are tougher than diamonds, but diamonds are harder than moissanites.

So from a strength perspective moissanite is technically the stronger gemstone, but both are so durable and hard that it doesn’t really matter, they are both “forever” stones.

1. I feel like every so often a thread pops up along the lines of “my moissy is developing mystery stains and IDK why. Help!!” Has this actually happened to you/anyone you know? How easy was it to resolve- or was the stone just ruined?

This happened to me! I think it was because the water in our house was very hard and there was simply a build up on my stone. It was barely noticeable so it didn’t really bug me. One day I decided to try to get it off – I emailed Charles & Colvard and asked them about it, and they sent me a sample of a Sunshine Cleaning Cloth – I rubbed my stone with it for a good while and the stain fully came off, so no, it didn’t ruin the stone πŸ™‚

Does your moissy really feel “as strong as a diamond”? (I know they technically aren’t but from what I can tell the strength difference is so minute you can’t really tell unless you’re scratching your moissy with a diamond- is this true?) Has anyone managed to damage their moissy?

I am super clumsy and bump mine into things ALL THE TIME. Does not have a single scratch on it πŸ™‚ From my research, I actually read that they’re not as high up there on the Moh’s scale of hardness (they’re just a notch under diamond), but because of the way they’re cut they’re less prone to chipping and stuff like that. Don’t quote me on that, but I’ve had mine for almost 2 years now and it’s pristine despite me slamming it into things all the time!

Do you ever feel like your moissy looks like a “fake?” (I don’t mean a fake diamond- I don’t really care that much if people “can tell my stone isn’t really a diamond!!!” I’m concerned more about some moissy pictures I’ve seen on insta in which the stone looks like straight glass. Has anyone experienced this?

Nope! Mine is an emerald cut moissanite and it’s set in a bezel, so it gets a little bit less light than normal. I actually got a moissanite BECAUSE I wanted a bezel setting. I initially looked at white sapphires, but after talking to my jewelery I learned that a white sapphire could look really flat in a bezel setting, but the moissanite has so much fire that this has never been an issue. My stone is always super sparkly, regardless of the lighting!

Harro gem- anyone have one? Do you love it? What’s your experience? Any advice on that versus forever one/C&C/moissyco?

N/A

Forever one versus forever brilliant? What’s the biggest difference?

I have a Forever Brilliant πŸ™‚ Forever One’s didn’t exist yet when I got my stone. A FB moissanite is just going to be a bit of a warmer tint – chemically they’re the same, it’s basically just the colour. A Forever One is going to be completely colourless (so like an E coloured diamond). I would never say my stone is yellow though. The only time I ever notice that it looks a bit warm is when it’s side-by-side with my SILs diamond (she has an E coloured diamond). Otherwise, it looks very white πŸ™‚ And FB are less expensive!

Forever one near colorless versus forever one colorless? Is there a real color difference?

No idea πŸ™‚

Forever one versus hearts and arrows? What’s the biggest difference here? Is it just a different cut but the same clairty/color?

Not sure – I think people like the hearts and arrows because it’s cut more simliarly to a diamond, but that’s all I know.

My absolute dream ring is a 0.6-1.0 carat solitaire in a 2mm yellow gold setting. With that size/gold choice what would the best stone be? I don’t mind a little warmth, and in fact prefer a little warmth over some moissy pictures I’ve seen that look so icy white they’re almost blue/grey, but I have also seen pictures of moissy where they look yellow, and would like to avoid that, too.

If you like a little bit of warms I’d look at Forever Brilliant stones, or the near colourless Forever One. I love my FB and don’t think I’d want an icy white Forever One, because I do like the warmth! Mine’s set in yellow gold πŸ˜€

Do you regret getting a moissy? Why?

Absolutely not! It’s my super shiny amazing little sciency space rock and it’s just SO PRETTY πŸ˜€ I LOVE the colourful fire of moissanite. Looks white most of the time, but in direct sunlight it throws many different flashes of colour, it’s like looking into infinity, I love it πŸ˜€

elbee723 :

1. Nope no stain for me and I have had mine for a little over a year. So hopefully that will not be an issue. I actually think I have heard it happening more so on Forever Brilliant and not on the Forever ones as of yet anyways.

2. I have had no issues with durability. I tend to take it off for certain tasks like               washing dishes, cleaning and just dirty work in general. No scratches or any issues as of yet.

3. Nope. It sparkles and has depth. It is a beautiful stone. I have the orginal Forever One. It does have a more splintery cut but it does not bother me. I do not care if it does not look exactly like a diamond, just was not a concern for me. Really to be honest I can not tell a difference unless comparing side by side and up close and personal.

4. Do not know much of anything on harro gems so can not say much on that.

5. Forever ones will be bright white, which I prefer. I have never seen a Forever Briliant in person but did not want to chance having a stone be yellow since I knew that would irk me.

6. Have not seen the near colorless version so do not know how big of a difference it is.

7. As I said before the normal Forever One (not H&A) has a more splintery type cut. Some people prefer the more Diamond like cut of the H&A version.

8. If you do not like a bright white stone and want some warmth the near colorless or the FB may be your best bet. I would say order a one of each and test them out different lighting etc. to decide which one you like best.

9. Nope. No regrets.

My ring is a 6.5 (1ct equivalent) c&c f1 h&a on a 6.5 finger, in a two tone 18k yellow and white gold setting!

1.havent had mine long enough for any stain to develop tbh, but ive not heard of anyone with an f1 with this issue so far

2. I don’t think you need to worry about durability tbh! moissanites are perfectly good for every day wear and if you’re doing anything intensive (like rock climbing) i would be more concerned about my setting getting damaged than the stone!

3. My moissanite goes ‘flat’ sometimes in not so ideal lighting and or whites out. Most stones do this including diamonds from what I’ve seen. I think it’s difficult for a stone (natural or created) to look perfect all the time because that’s subjective!

4. Don’t have a Harro gem but I’ve seen bellabee has been here already! I have a c&c F1 and from moissaniteco and the stone, service and ring were all great

5/6 I have a near colourless f1 and think it’s white but without looking blue or anything. I am tanned and I have my ring set in yellow gold so my stone not being “stark” was a requirement for me and this fits the bill

7. Hearts and arrows is my personal preference. It’s a more diamond like cut and apparently has less sparkle than the forever one. It all depends on what characteristics you would prefer!

8. I only have an f1 and i think the near colourless is a good bridge between the colourless f1 and the fb. Because i have a small ish round I could have gotten away with the fb too but im glad i didn’t because i feel like the colour may have been an issue later on.

9. No regrets whatsoever! Love my ring so much and i was really happy with the ring i received from moissaniteco

Hope this helps!

elbee723 :  Here you can see my F-coloured, SI clarity, Excellent cut diamond and my FB moissanite side-by-side — both are about the same size = 1 carat. The rose gold ring has the moissanite – The yellow gold is the diamond

i find that they both have great sparkle. The diamond throws more white sparkles, and the moissy has more colours. The moissanite is a bit more clear (or glass-like) – but if you compared it to a better clarity diamond you might find that they look more alike.

I find I can tell a bigger moissanite from a diamond, because they throw off the coloured sparkles, and look clearer. I find with small stones I have a very hard time telling the difference between moissanite and diamond.

I’m hard on my rings – I never take them off – I wear them through cleaning, cooking, washing dishes, dance class, etc… and never had a stain, scratch, etc…

i personally find the Colourless a bit too white – I like the near Colourless much better – they look closer to a diamond  in my opinion

Also at the bottom I’m including a photo of my classic moissanite eternity band. It’s supposed to be IJK coloured – but as you can see, I can wear it with my F coloured diamond with no problem
