how is it that you’re against diamonds, but you already have 2?

have you looked at a moissy next to a diamond? i think it will be very obvious that they’re different.

@kitzy: That’s what I was thinking. I’ve not seen a mossy (or asha) sitting right next to a diamond. But since their refractive properties are different I’d expect you’d be able to tell the 3rd stone was different.

@lkr736: Have you thought about lab created diamonds or Canadian diamonds?

@lkr736: I saw on the Moissanite Co site yesterday that if your moissy ever clouds, you can send it back and they will replace it for free.

@lkr736: If you are ok with explaining the difference, why not just get a different stone all together. Maybe a colored stone, or do 2 colored stones on either side and make a right hand ring or pendant necklace out of the other .33 diamond.

I wouldn’t be so concerned with explaining it but more that the ring will look “unbalanced”.  If you were looking at an alternate stone for the center stone with 2 diamonds around it, I don’t think it would be obvious but I feel like with the two side stones being different, the ring may just look “off” and “unbalanced”.  Just my thoughts!

@lkr736: Could you use it in a wedding band?

Unless your diamonds are perfectly colorless, at that size, you won’t notice any color difference between the diamond and the moissanite. However, moissanite is a different gemstone with different optical properties and moissy round brilliants are NOT cut the same as diamonds are. So if you look closely enough, the third stone will be a different shape.

Ashas might be cut more similarly to diamonds, but it’s still really hard to say unless you have them right next to each other. Also, CZs are totally colorless so having a CZ as a third stone might make your diamonds look yellow.

@lkr736: Is there anywhere near you that carries mossy & asha where you could compare the stones side by side?

I’m really not sure how they’d look together.

If cost is a factor, keep in mind you can get much better deals in the open market for diamonds. Here‘s one you could try from eBay, they have a return policy so if it’s crap you can send it back. Sometimes you can get very lucky with eBay. Check craigslist, pawn shops, etc. locally too.
