Hi Moissy Bees, I need your advice 🙂
I’ve been stalking these boards (and Betterthandiamond) for ages and SO wanted to start ring shopping. He knows I really like moissy (and is supportive) but neither of us have seen one in person before. We found a few jewelers in town who will work with moissy. The first store hadn’t heard of Forever Brilliant moissy (only regular moissy which they said had a tendency to look greenish brown) before but found it in their catalogue and ordered for us. I requested a 7.5 and 8mm stone to look at.
Today we went to look at the shineys!! I was so unbelievably excited and nervous to look in person. The saleswoman who was lovely said even she was surprised at how pretty they were and how different they looked from past moissy she’s seen. She wasn’t able to get in a 7.5mm so had instead a 7mm and 8mm to look at.
To show us the size, she put a CZ in between the two stones that was 7.5mm. I have to say, I was a little surprised by how much color the moissys had and I think in hindsight it was because she put the CZ in between them. Boyfriend or Best Friend took out the CZ and the stones alone looked gorgeous but in comparison with many of the diamond settings, the center stone moissy showed quite a bit more color. Here is a pic but it really just shows the beauty and fire, not so much the color we were seeing in RL… The color difference was very visible in the store under jewelry store lighting AND outdoors in bright sunlight (we took the stones outside).
CZ is in the center, 8mm FB on left, 7mm FB on right. The pic doesn’t show the color so much because they did have such beautiful sparkle/fire. The saleswoman said that the fire from the stone will help cover up any color difference between a setting and the stone. They WERE gorgeous.
My questions to you are this:
1) Do you think the moissy we got was typical of enhanced moissanite? I’m wondering if because I saw it compared with a very white stone, it automatically looked yellow to me? I’m curious about ordering a certified FB moissy or biting the bullet and waiting for 7.5mm Amora moissy to be available?
2) If we do go with it, it had lovely warmth which really was beautiful, but to me didn’t quite match the tiny G diamonds (micropave) in the setting we were looking at with it. She did say they could go down to I diamonds, do you think that will make the setting and stone match more?
I’m still really wanting Moissy, just worried about a warm center stone and very cool colored setting… We aren’t interested (at this point) in ordering online because I think Boyfriend or Best Friend is more comfortable with a brick and mortar store!
