As an old married woman…I have a beautiful DIAMOND wedding set. I opted for high color “F” and less quality SI1 to keep the price down. 1.5 ct center stone with matching diamonds in the band for a total of just over 3ct. Cost 12,000…if someone came up to me and asked if my ring was real, I would be extremely upset!! I get compliments ALL the time on the “sparkle” of my diamond. Having said that, with the quality of moissanite; have .5ct/ear earrings cost 250, not quite as much sparkle, as it isn’t as white, but, I can sure put the money into some other fabulous things. I am wanting 2ct earring per ear…cost 42,000, moissy 1,200. I have changed my thought, and decided to spend my money doing MORE, when the average joe will NOT know the difference!!!

@bling58: Yeah, I think it just depends on what you prefer. Some bees on here are very adamant about wanting a REAL diamond. I, on the other hand, prefer to allocate my money to other things and I also love the look of a moissy (I have a diamond e-ring because I had never heard of moissy until coming here).
Honestly, do whatever is best for you and your finances. I have never had anyone in real life ask me if any of my jewelery was “real or fake”. That seems to happen quite a bit on here, but I think this is the exception to that rule and I would be horribly offended if people IRL did have the gaul to ask me that question.
I say save the money and get moissy because it’s beautiful on its own (it does look different than a diamond, though) but that is all up to you and your preference.

I think I’m in the same boat as you, Bling…
I have been dying for a 3-stone ring for my right hand. If I got that in diamond, it would cost about $20,000. For the moissy, it would cost about $2000.
But I’ve never seen moissy in real life– so I cannot say with any certainty as to whether I would like it or not…so I’ll probably just skip it altogether. (Unless my husband surprises me with it…and I’m not sure how he feels about moissy.)

I have a 7.5mm (1.5 carat in comparison) moissy. It is AMAZING!!!! Before having it set, my fiance and I were looking at settings. We told the lady that we already had a stone…she asked to see it. We decided that we would not tell her that it was moissy. She looped it….did a hardness test….looped it again and looked under the microscope. She came back and said “i am in love with this diamond and if i had 35,000 dollars on me i would buy it from you” So ya….if you find the right moissy….it will stun everyone.

If these are studs, I wouldn’t even spend the money on a moissanite. I’d just get high quality CZ and save even more money. Avg person you can’t see studs very well anyways. I have a pair of CZ studs from Quorri (they were gifted to me by the company) and you can’t tell the difference.
