I showed my mom the proof of my etsy invitations last night and she absolutely hates them. I have already paid in full, so there is nothing I can do as far as the design, which I love!! My feelings were so hurt. She thinks they are way too busy, but they are so me.
First pic is what they will look like assembled and the second is the proof

nope. ignore her. I love them.
but in all reality…. I really do love them and they look similar to mine. Our colors are Yellow and Blue too! 🙂

I don’t think mine was crazy about mine either, but what’s done is done. I like yours.

I think they’re great!
For the record, I am pretty sure my mom won’t like my invitations, either, but she can stick a sock in it because she didn’t offer to pay a cent toward them!

I think they are very cute and personal. Just explain to your mom that they are personal to you and that although there are many many different types of invitations out there, these were the ones that represented you two the best and that is what you want your wedding to be.

@minniemluv: I think they are perfect! If you and Fiance love them, that’s all that should matter. Although, I do know how hard it is to handle a less than stellar reaction from your mom – I had a similar reaction when I showed my mom my dress for the first time. After a long discussion and LOTS of tears, we came to the conclusion that we both have different tastes. They are definitely more modern so maybe your mom was just expecting something a little more “traditional”?

I think these are very cool invitations! I love the different patterns, to me, they go together very well. I also love the colors. I think what matters most is that you like them! My mom is a hard critic too, so I know how you feel. But it is YOUR day so you need to be happy the most!

These are super cute. I’m sure your feelings are hurt but I wouldn’t take it too personally. Maybe she was just in a bad mood.

She’s nuts. Those are completely awesome! Try not to take it personally; people have different tastes, and considering that weddings are so different today than they were in your mother’s day, she probably has a much more traditional vision for what you should have.

These are perfect, professional and lovely. They aren’t ‘too busy’ they just aren’t on off-white card stock with edwardian script like I think she was used to seeing.
Congrats on a succesful paper suite 🙂

1) they’re cute
2) no one will pay any attention to them after reading them initially. Don’t worry about it ! 🙂

Thank you so much, ladies! My mom used to do print advertising many years ago, so she doesn’t appreciate the unusual fonts being used. I feel so much better now. I also think she would have liked me to ask her before purchasing, but I paid for them and I fell in love as soon as I saw the listing. Our wedding is 4 months out so I am trying to get a couple things taken care of every week so it’s not overwhelming.
Every time I do ask her opinion she says something like, “I haven’t really thought about that yet…”

I agree, they do look a tad bit busy, but they are lovely. Nobody will remember your invitations except you and maybe your mom.
