Okay, So my FH and I have obviously never planned a wedding. Before we were even engaged, he had in mind who he wanted his groomsmen to be. We figured groomsmen are people he was close with and bridesmaids are the people I am close to. Mom says I can have males I am close with to. OK whatever. Here is the problem:
He has 5 groomsmen. We want it to be even(yes, i know it doesn’t HAVE to be but we want it to be), but I am up to 3 bridesmaids…(can you tell I don’t have all that many close female freinds? LOL) So if he ADDS yet ANOTHER groomsmen, that means I need 3 more BM’s!!!
My mom tells me DAILY that my brother should be in the wedding. it would be nice. Thats how it should be done. he wants to be in it. BLAH BLAH BLAH
My brother and I are like your average brother and sister. We talk when we see each other, we dont like call each other every day or even every week. Honestly, I never even thought about him being in the wedding (tho I am not completely opposed to the idea)
Sorry for the rant…any suggestions??? Thanks.

Could you have him as an usher? That way he is involved without you having to find another bridesmaid

He could do readings, stand on your side as a Bridesman, usher as PP said or if you are doing a unity candle or other ceremony he could be a “bearer” of whatever is involved in the ceremony and carry it down the aisle. Kinda like an adult flowergirl or ring bearer

I had dudes on my side. It was awesome. If you’re so inclined, you could have him as a Bridesdude. I’d ask your brother what he thinks. Often times Moms like to exaggerate a little to get their way.

Thanks guys. I asked him and he does actually really want to be in it, so I will figure something out. I am not going to stress about having an equal amount of BM’s.

Well if you put him in you have an equal ratio of bridesmaids to groomsmen. The groomsmen could be up front with your groom and when they walk back out it would be 2 groomsmen walking out each bridesmaid. It could be cute.

I had the exact same problem but didn’t want him to be a Groomsmen, so I asked him to be an usher. Good luck!
