My dress came in, which I’m in love with. It has to be altered quite a bit, but I am thrilled about it…until I texted a picture of it to my mother. I’m between a street size 6 and 8, and I’m 5’3″. I’ve actually lost 15 lbs. over the last year and intend to lose another 10 lbs. before my wedding. I’m not thin by any standard, but I didn’t think I looked bad 🙁 (The front of my dress is pinned in this photo by the armpits, so those lines won’t be there)
My Mom, who calls herself “fat” when she hits 110 lbs., thinks the dress is unflattering on me. It’s too late to do anything about it now and I’m beginning to feel like I’ve made a bad choice. She has been so hands-off with my wedding already (she never came dress shopping, hasn’t helped with a thing) etc. I’m so upset and my wedding is in a few weeks…not sure how to pick myself back up.

What the heck, you look effing gorgeous! I don’t see where your mom is coming from. We’re pretty much the same body size, from what I’m seeing in the photo, and same height too. You look fab! And the dress is stunning too!

You look *beautiful.* Don’t let her ruin that gorgeous dress for you.

Yeah, your mom is crazy, and mean besides. I’d stop talking to her about the wedding since she’s obviously got personal issues she’s projecting onto you.

“I’m not thin by any standard.”
Yes, you are. You look great. To hell with her comment.

You look absolutely beautiful!

You do not look overweight. Your mother has body image issues and is projecting them onto you.

Sounds like your mom has some of her own body-issues…thinking she is fat when she tops out at 110 pounds? Sounds like she is rather delusional about her own shape, so obviously she is quite disenfranchised about how women actually look. HInt– don’t listen to Karen Carpenter when it comes to how you look in your gown.
You don’t look fat in that picture. No way. No how.

It makes me really sad that your mom said that. The dress is so pretty and you look beautiful.
