@Atalanta:  She may want one for her vehicle, her husband’s vehicle, and possibly her parents’ vehicle. It is a little silly that you can’t just move the car seat, but some people are lazy and will tell you how hard it is (I can do it with my eyes closed).

my friend takes his child to daycare but her husband picks him up half the time and his mother in law the other half, so each one of them needs a car seat. lots of people have arrangements like this.

Agreed. She also may be expecting to get lots of gifts, in which case she registered for more items. Large families, etc.

Maybe she added them intending to pick one and then forgot?

We have 3 car seats. If your child goes to day care you often can’t leave the seat there- where would they put all the seats all day? Soon my DH has one because he takes dd in the morning and I pick her up in the afternoon. Grandma also has one because you never know when an emergency might arise and she may not have access to our cars to get one of ours. But we bought them all ourselves- no registry.

We have multiples of the same items (not on the registry though). My husband, his parents, my parents, and I have some of the same things. Can never be too prepared. I didnt expect my guests to buy these things though.

Yeah, she must just want to be prepared. Though, that doesn’t mean you don’t have to buy a car seat unless you want to!

@Atalanta:  I went to a shower like that once.  The girl said she had picked items in different price ranges so people who could only spend x amunt could still get her a car seat or a high chair.  I thought it was stupid.  I got her a baby gym but she got the other one she registered for too.  If I’d known she was doing that stuff, I would have just gotten a gift card.  If I was dead set on a $200 car seat I would have gotten a group together.

@Atalanta:  If the shower is still a few weeks away she may be trying to decide. That many bedding sets is too much, but if it were just sheets I could totally understand.

My sister only registered for one car seat but we also got a used one from a friend, which is really helpful because the bigger ones are a PITA, so I like having one in my car for when I babysit (which is a lot).

@Atalanta:  I’m guessing it’s a multi car situation… I don’t feel it’s safe to be constantly playing car seat swap, IMO the more it’s moved the more chance it gets put in wrong ect.

Also did you look at the weight ranges on the seats? Many are only good for a small portion of time bc of weight ranges, she may be trying to get one to fit each weight range of legally required car seat time?

Or are they all identical? I’d think if she wanted them to prevent playing car seat swap all the time she’d want the same seats, I put a lot of thought and time into researching a car seat.

As a PP said she may have just forgotten to take the others off after deciding on one.

I also two different carriers on my registry bc one is a swaddle type and the other is for a bigger baby.

for an infant isn’t it easier to have one carseat and 3 bases? I mean we have 3 carseats for my daughter, but that’s because my sister takes her weekends and I’m split from her dad. also she’s 4 so those things are pretty heavy duty and a pain to install. also she’s about to outgrow one!
