    I am only pregnant not and I dont have experience, but from what I read rocking is good to help move gas through a baby so there is a reason to have a rocker vs a recliner. Also, the motion is soothing to the baby when puttiner him/her to sleep or calm down.

    Of course that is not to say that you have to have a rocker/glider it just may be easier for you.

    I have just been using the recliner in our den. My friend let me use her glider once when I was over at her house and I loved that thing!

    I have a glider and it was my best nursery buy.

    @lilbluebird:

    Yeah I wish I had the glider, I think we might get one actually.

    We have a glider and love it;however when our son was sick and we had to spend nights holding him because he couldn’t breathe while lying down, I really wished I had a recliner. I’m looking for a recliner that rocks as well for the new baby’s room…

    So I’m still pregnant but I splurged on a chair that I LOVE.. it’s a glider, recliner (like full flat recline incase I need/want to sleep in the nursery, or dose off while sitting with baby or nursing) and has a lever to lock it as a stationary chair so we can use it somewhere outside the nursery later on. I love it already and sit it in all the time.

    Quite frankly, my recliner was my saving grace during the early days. We have a rocker, but we could definitely have done without it. I COULD NOT have made it without my recliner.

    @mommytobee:  That was one of the best uses for our recliner–when Little Man had RSV, we held him for sleeping in the recliner (not safe, SIDS risk, not endorsing, just reporting.)
