My mom and future Mother-In-Law recently received their Chinese Qipao dresses for our wedding and I’m very excited to share pictures with you. I helped them pick out the style: both are silk Qipao with purple peony (my favo flower and my theme color =) embroidery. My MIL’s is custom made to her size but only has back zipper while my mom’s is off the rack standard size but has traditional side knot buttons. Both are purchased in China (they live there) and about the same price, ~$250 each.
Model pictures first. These pictures depict the color more accurately than my mom and MIL’s real person pictures.
Since my MIL’s dress was custom made, we requested knee length and sleeves.
This one is a top contender for my mom’s dress. We like it very much but it is priced three times more than my mom’s final choice. The dress maker says it’s more expensive because it uses a better quality silk and the embroidery takes more labor.
My Mother-In-Law. These pictures were taken at the last but two fitting. Her finished dress has blings along the peony petal outline.
