Honestly, I don’t think they really look alike either. Both of you will look great (but not alike)! 🙂

I agree with MrsCoachBtoBee – they are not too similar at all. they compliment each other but are different in their own ways. The necklines are different, yours has lace, the placement of the brooch is different. If your Mom loves it, I think you should let her get it. It is a day for her to celebrate too and I would want her to feel fabulous!

They’re not even close, so let it go.

girl don’t worry! I think you are thinking about it too much. To me, I would not view them as exactly alike at all. They might have very few similarities, but they do not look that much alike.

Sorry – I don’t want to make you feel bad, but that’s a gorgeous MOB dress and doesn’t look that similar to yours at all. Your dress outshines it entirely!

Sometimes we get so caught up in all this weddingness that we need to step outside of it a bit.

I see that you’ve already made your decision (which is great!) I just wanted to chime in that I think it’s darling that even though they’re very different and beautiful they have a similar detail, like her dress is your dresses mother. My BFF had a fit and flare dress with a lace/beaded detail on the left hip, and her moms dress had a similar left hip detail. People commented all night on how beautiful and cohesive they looked.

@Petunia123: I think that they’ll look really nice together. The sash detail on both dresses will look nice in pictures. I don’t see this as a big deal.

This sort of reminded me of a SYTTD episode.. or something, the mom’s dress was actually *identical* to the wedding dress, but a different color, I was almost expecting that, but I dont think they are similar at all.

Um, I think the dresses look vaguely similar (in that the beading is of a similar shape and that they both have ruching–though in different sizes & heights) but seriously, they look nothing alike. I do not see the issue. Sorry. I vote let her wear the dress.

I think you’re OK,  especially with the bright color of the dress your mom likes.

I’m glad you have calmed down. Just wanted to say I think your dress is GORGEOUS! I love the lace detailing.

The beading is pretty similiar, but the rouching is somwhat different.  Express yoru feelings to her and you can talk them out.  If not, offer to continue shopping with her.  You can also think of it as it helps with a coherent theme!
