I honestly don’t think they look anything alike, sorry πŸ™  I think you’re being a little too critical.

And my mom wore a bridesmaids’ dress to my wedding πŸ™‚

They aren’t really alike at all IMO. She has straps, yours is strapless. Hers has more of horizontal pleats whereas yours has true ruching. The beading is different, yours has lace, etc. etc.

I wouldn’t worry about it, you will both look beautiful but unique!

I say let her wear it.  It’s a beautiful dress and not similar enough to catch anyone’s eye but yours!  πŸ˜›  It’s easy to overthink things, but I really do think this is a non-issue and you should let her be happy and get this dress!

I have to agree with the others, except for the beading part, the 2 dresses don’t look similar at all.

Don’t worry too much πŸ™‚

I don’t see a similarity.  Maybe the brooches.  That’s it.

I don’t think they look that alike at all.  The only similarity is the bling at the waist.  But I know when you start looking at your dress so much anything looks like it.  I say let her wear it!  I love the color!

After seeing the dresses I think that it will be fine!! It will complement your dress but they are different, and lets face it nobody will ever outshine the bride on the wedding day!!! If you are okay with it I would let her, bc she needs to be comfortable, and she loves the dress, and it will be nive that some details of her dress compliment yours πŸ™‚

If I saw these 2 dresses together, I would never think they look alike πŸ™‚  I thought they were going to be wayyyyy more similar than this!

LOL  I have the same exact issue!!!! I basically could have written this exact same post. My dress has a sash with beading and stones in a cluster on my left side. My mom picked out a navy blue dress with a cluster of rinestones in the exact same location….

I was very concerned at first, but soon got over it. My mom is loving every second of wedding planning with me, so I’m letting her have her dress cus she truely loves it.

You are not nuts!  But I do not think they look too similar.  Both gorgeous and very complimentary!

dont even worry about it. Besides the rhinestone embelishment, I see no resemblance. Plus, everyone will be looking at the bride…not the mother of the bride.

@pinkshoes: Haha I was going to say the same thing about that episode.

Honestly though I don’t think your dresses look similar at all. I think it compliments rather than competes with your dress. If it really does bother you though maybe have a word with your mum and maybe you can find another dress that is just as beautiful.
