So my little baby girl who isn’t so little anymore, and is now almost 19, has officially graduated from High School. I had just sat down, saw her in her cap and gown and immediately started to cry.. I was trying to hard to stop myself, hold it in, but, seeing her all grown up, an adult, killed me.
Any other mom’s/step-mom’s watching their babies graduate? Are you fearing the empty nest and next steps?

Aww congrats! My little sister is graduating in a few weeks. I can’t believe it! In my mind she’s still 10!

My best friend is in the same situation her oldest “baby” will be graduating in less than two weeks. I know she has been pretty emotional already about her daughter graduating!

@Sassygrn: I bet it’s killing her!
I can’t believe I have to go through this 3 times! My oldest baby has just graduated, my middle one is 14 and just going into high school in august, my youngest one is 12 and in middle school. The joys of being a parent!

Congratulations! My son is set to graduate next year and I already know I’m going to shed many tears. I cried when I attended a h.s. graduation this year and it wasn’t even for my own child.

Congrats to you and your daughter!

My son graduated yesterday and while it was bittersweet i was mostly just proud of him. Also a little ready for him to leave the nest. He is my last and has been the hardest as a teenager. Try not to think of it like an ending but more of a beginning of what’s next. If you dwell on the other it only makes you feel worse. I cried something awful the morning my daughter left for college but now I realize that things change but that it’s not necessarily a bad thing, just different. Really just try to be excited for what’s ahead cause a lot of great times are ahead!

@MissPine: @mija22: @bricon: thank you!
aww. the baby is flying the coop!
yeah, I’m trying to focus on how proud I am, how great they’re doing, how they’ll be flying soon on their own, how I will finally, finally, get to travel without kids screaming, needing a vacation from the vacation and maybe getting more than 10 minutes of conversation with my husband lol. it will be AWESOME!

Yes, I am feeling it big time. I never thought I would go through it but here I am crying about her not needing me anymore. 🙁

That is exactly how I felt when my little sister graduated high school last year. I was at her graduation and just couldn’t stop crying. So proud of her though 🙂
