Thank you so much ladies! Im getting ideas now to put together some useful gifts along with the clothing I purchased! I know my sister has been talking about how she cant wait to see what I get for baby girl in reguards to clothing/etc… So she will love that kind of stuff, but also will appreciate all the practical things I purchase as well! I will do half and half so I get the best of both worlds for the little girl:) Any other ideas would be great!

My baby swing had savedy sanity on more than one occasion. Definitely what we use the most. Other good ones were the jolly jumper breast feeding pillow, glider which is great for those late night feeds, blankets. Can’t have too many blankets.
The he most thoughtful was a gift card to mine and DH’s favourite restaurant, along with a voucher for a night of babysitting.

The best and most used gifts I got was the activity mat and swing. My son loved both.

Call me selfish, but a bottle of “mommy’s time out” wine and a gift certificate to the spa!
For baby, other than things from the registry, I loved getting “basics” in larger sizes. For example, sleep ‘n plays in size 6+ months was great. They aren’t things I care if I don’t like and my baby wears them at least once a day every day! We had only bought a few in newborn/0-3 months sizes, so when she outgrew those it was so nice to have them in the next size up!

Barbiestylez: from experience, I would suggest:
size 1-2 diapers (Huggies & Pampers were my fav)
sensitive wipes (just in case the baby have sensitive skin)
as someone suggested – a first aid kit
a Bruan thermoscan ear thermometer
if she plan to breastfeed – a handhelp breast pump
she’ll need a ton of onesies
a Bumbo seat
a Boppy pillow – great for multipurpose use
a premeassured formula dispenser for on-the-go in case breast feeding doesn’t work out
and swaddle blankets
If it’s someone close to me, I think it’s a good idea to wait until after the shower to see what she’ll need. People rarely follow registries!

Well, I have had 4 baby showers with my kids so I guess I’ll just talk about the gifts I got with the most recent one I had with this baby. I got a lot of nice stuff… most useful of course were diapers. I got a ton of diapers which I was thankful for. One gift that I really loved and was surprised about getting was a shoe bank for he baby. It is the cutest thing and I have it in the baby’s room and drop spare change in it on occasion. I was super surprised to get it because it is not a typical baby shower gift here.
As far as a gift to get your sister, well the one thing I we bought that we wished we would have been gifted was our travel system. Not sure what your budget is but any big ticket item you can get them would be nice because that would mean less costly stuff for them to buy.

Aden + Anais muslin blankets, I went out and bought more because I use them all the time, I love them. Out of the big things I’d probably go with the pack n play. Also sleep n plays/pajamas in bigger sizes (9 month+).

Barbiestylez: I had macular degeneration in my right eye 4 years ago. I had a laser surgery done and am fine now…has an opthamologist given her this option?

I love my video monitor … get one with two cameras. My daughter sleeps during the day in our bedroom and I wish I had a monitor there.

For sure my Brest Friend, the breast feeding support pillow. It made breast feeding soooo much easier and my LO loves to nap on it after a feeding. Also, a Halo swaddle sleep sack. It makes swaddling so much easier and we used it every night for the first three months.

Diapers and wipes are always useful. Books are great. Most people brought books to my shower instead of cards, to build DD’s library. Swaddle wraps or good quality swaddling blankets? (Aden + Anais muslin ones are the best)
I got about 1000 hooded towels and receiving blankets so maybe stay away from those! 🙂

The swing/bouncer!! Our son LOVES it!! We also got so many diaper and wipes that we STILL haven’t had to buy any diapers or wipes and our son is almost 3 months! Best gifts ever!!!!
*no newborn sizes they don’t stay in those long and my son went right past newborn and was wearing size 1 right out the womb.

Probably the best thing I got was a Rock n’ Play — I would not have bought that for myself, but we used it all the time when my child was an infant and needed somewhere safe to sit.
The other gift I loved was a little wagon full of classic kids’ books. But I am a sucker for kids’ books.
