First off, let me say I appreciate each and every response given on here. It is hard hearing some of these things but I can’t say they aren’t fears I’ve had while considering this.
I really do believe that 90% of the people I am planning to invite will come. We don’t have much family but we are planning on giving tons of notice. We have been dating for 5 years, so this isn’t a shock to anyone hah!
@spiffanee , I love the idea of having a short reception. I want to thank our guests but we also don’t think they will mind it being short and intimate.
@bkprettygirl I haven’t actually gotten to the timing of it all but I think I would like for it to end mid afternoon 3 or 4 at the very latest. I would like to have time to spend with family/guests who are staying longer if that were the case but not coerce people to have to take a day off of work due to late travel.
@Horseradish, @prahajess, @Nena16; We are considering having it close to the majority of our family and friends so travel would be made more convenient and less expensive. I also have older relatives that may not be up for a destination wedding or the like.
@fscarlett; Have you found more resistance to it being a “destination” type location. I’m from Georgia and there are many destination type locations near here but I’m worried if there are Labor Day crowds, it might throw some people off of joining for very long.
@seeker, I’m in luck that only two twelve year olds will be coming! We are the babies in the family and I will be asking people to not bring their kids (of course not in that way) but most of them have none that young.
@winterwoodlandbride15, I do drink but I’m sure I can go virgin drinks for a night to keep from looking gross in pictures! Thanks for the tip, the things you forget when you’re celebrating.
@Kir32: I love the idea of a brunch wedding but I’m not sure how we would pull it off. Do people normally have cake before or after the wedding?
@MarriedToMyWork , I’m honestly not too worried about people not having the day off. I don’t think I am inviting anyone who would have this problem except for my husband friends in the military who may be deployed/on call during this time. But I am flexible with the idea that not everyone will be on our schedule.
@Tinatiny18 , Like I said, logically Sunday would be smarter but I am pretty set on keeping our anniversary the same so I may just have to wing it.
baileyjosephine: How far in advance did you send your STDs? How far would you recommend?
Once again, thank you all for your suggestions and insight. My man is currently unable to talk to me about these concerns since he is away for military training so I am bouncing all these fears off of you! I appreciate it!
