Well Bees, he did it!!! My SO asked me to marry him tonight and I was very surprised, which is funny because he told me he’d bought the ring last week.
Our anniversary was tonight. This morning, he told me that we would recreate the 1st date in many ways. After working (I was running late and worried he’d be sad I’d made him wait), we had dinner at our favorite restaurant. Next, he took me to the ice cream shop were we had our first date. After sharing a scoop of ice cream, he looked at me lovingly and I asked him if he wanted to give me a kiss. He said he’d do one better and then dropped down onto one knee. When he first started saying a series if wonderful things to me, I thought he was just being romantic. When he started fumbling in his pocket, I was so shocked that I actually said “No way, no, no, no…”. Fiance asked me The Question and I just stared at him trying not to cry. Eventually I said yes and a few more lovely things too. Once he put the ring on my finger, we shared a sweet kiss and took a few snaps. On our 1st date, we spent hours trying to see the Perseid meteor shower and ended up falling in love. Tonight, we shared a bottle of wine, celebrated privately, and then he told me the story of my ring.
Originally, I figured the ring would take longer to me made. Apparently it was done early, so Fiance changed his plans completely. Instead of going to work, he spent 7+ hrs round trip in the car picking up the ring (from NH) and asking my father for my hand (my Dad told him that Fiance best worry about getting me to say yes haha). I couldn’t believe that Fiance pulled off this surprise. It was and is so wonderful to have the love of my life love me back!
The ring: Ritani rose gold tapered cathedral setting with a 1.22 ct VVS1 J color Reserve Ideal (hearts and arrows type), no culet, excellent polish/symmetry, HCA 0.4 diamond stunner!!
