So I work at a Development Consulting firm as a Landscape Architectural Intern (still in professional development…almost a full LA).
My boss is a planner. He has a habit of leaving me out of initial meetings with clients and then feeding me information. Unfortunately, things seem to get lost in translation/he doesn’t pay attention to the landscape architecture stuff and therefore I get fed misinformation.
Today we were going over preliminary work I did for a client. The work was based on the concept sketch from the client and the information my boss gave me. He proceeds to tell me they hate it (fine, I’m not a fan of it either) and how unsuccessful he thinks it is and how it’s not at all what they were looking for.
Excuse me, I did what you told me to do, you were happy with it when you left. I was supposed to go to the second meeting but he cut me out of it again (which was probably a good thing as I had a massive deadline on another project that was much more pressing) but it’s still incredibly aggrivating to look like a jerk because I’m getting the wrong information and for my boss to not own the fact that he’s not giving me the correct information.
What’s annoying you on this fine first day of fall monday?

Traffic this morning was super f*cked. Absolutely hideous. So I decided to try and bail off the highway and go a different way, but every way I tried to go was hideous as well. For all I know, my circuitous non-highway route was even slower than if I’d just staying in the gridlock. It took me a full hour and a half to get to work this morning. Almost two hours if you start counting when I left the house to take Dirty Delete to daycare.
EFF YOU, MONDAY. RIGHT IN YOUR BUM.

Ugh! You just reminded me of when I started my first full time job. It was my first week, I was 21 and didn’t know how to process something that a customer was asking for. I asked a colleague (45 year old man who had worked there years) for help and he told me what to do, even doing half of it for me. Which is great, except it turns out he processed it wrong so the company then owed money to another firm. The manager came out to have a go at me for doing it wrong and this man was stood right next to me and didn’t say a word! He watched her yell at me. I was 21 and he was 45 and I was new and it was his fault! Then my manager left and the man said ‘ahh thats annoying, but you’ll get the hang of it’ to me. I was FUMING! but anyways that was a long time ago and I dont work there anymore… You just reminded me and I thought I’d share haha.
In conclusion, people can really suck!

iarebridezilla: I HATE this. I have about a 15 minute window to get the highway. Too early and I’m stuck in the get to school traffic, too late and I’m stuck in the get to work traffic. Drives me crazy. I usually get to work half an hour early just to avoid being late.

MsGinkgo: Do you work at my company??? Your boss sounds a LOT like mine… although luckily, as an admin, I don’t have to deal with his mistakes as much. Just him being late to EVERY SINGLE MEETING.

MsGinkgo: After having two weeks off work, the fact I had to get out of bed at an ungodly hour annoyed me at 5.45 this morning.
