@bakerella: No, I’ve never heard of that. When I think of a money shower, I think of this:

WOW lol… people are getting more and more audacious with these outright money/gift demands.

I like your idea of bringing clothes instead. If you were a bit more passive aggressive, you could go with something like a “how to teach your child proper etiquitte” book. But that’s probably a bit too hostile 😉

@bakerella: Maybe it is cultural. That would be so funny if you brought a money machine. lol

Haha, this is kind of funny to me. I wouldn’t bother going to a “money” shower. It seems ridiculous to me. “Let’s get together for the sole purpose of giving this mom-to-be some money”. I dunno, I guess you can say the same thing about gifts.. but at least you can look at cute baby clothes and interesting items seasoned moms give that work wonders! Will they still have games and food? I just can’t bring myself to give money at any shower. Oh well!

Hmmm… I’m not a fan. I think $ for weddings is fine, and there are certainly places (in the US, and abroad) where this is common. After getting married, my husband and I now only give money for wedding gifts– because the new couple might need the money, or they can go out and buy things off their registry.

However, for showers (both baby and wedding), I think money is inappropriate. The point is to shower the mother (or bride) with gifts that they will need.

I think gift cards are fine, if that is what the gift GIVER wants to give. But specifically putting “money shower” on the invite, if that is supposed to tell people to give money, is not doing it for me!~

wow that is utterly ridiculous! I would NEVER straight up ask for money for anything let alone a baby shower! I think it is a great idea bringing clothes! I probably wouldn’t even go to a “money shower”
