How much did you spend on your wedding and what was/ is your budget?

Budget – $22,000 (up from original $20,000)

How did you finance?

We set up a joint checking account and have been depositing $400/month each (we’ll have a longish engagement).

Where did you splurge and we’re did you save?

Splurge – Videography with video photo booth (professional video and guest video recordings were important to me)

Save – We cut out flowers! Our venue is beautiful and my bridesmaids will be holding lanterns instead. I might do an exception for myself and have a bouquet, but I haven’t decided.

Lastly, where are you located?

Wedding will be in southern Maine

How much did you spend on your wedding and what was/ is your budget?

Budget was $15,000. Spent about $20,000

How did you finance?

My parents paid for half. We had a 2-year engagement, so we spread out bookings/payments over time to help instead of one upfront payment at the end.

Where did you splurge and we’re did you save?

Splurged on flowers (my mom did).  Our photographer was super reasonable and we got some great discounts from vendors for my hubby being a veteran. A lot of DIY.

Lastly, where are you located?

Just outside of Washington DC.

$7K, but that included food for the whole weekend as 1/2 our guests joined us at our lake property. It also included 2 pontoon boat rentals, so the wedding day itself wasn’t but maybe $5K? But the 50-60 people on a holiday weekend at the lake… yeah.

Paid out of pocket.

Splurged on the whole weekend, boats, food, etc. Also splurged on a tent, just in case. Saved on the dress and alcohol (many of our friends brew and distil, so they did that as gifts, for the wedding day) and we have a good buddy with DJ equipment. Oh, and the venue other than the tent and renting chairs and tables was free as it was my parent’s farm. Also had NO flowers other than hubby’s bout and that was a sentimental must.

How much did you spend on your wedding and what was/ is your budget?

We planned to only spend $5K, went up to about $13K. This does not include our honeymoon.

How did you finance?

Husband and I paid for everything ourselves after saving up for four months (short engagement)

Where did you splurge and we’re did you save?

We saved in most areas as we didn’t have a traditional wedding, the majority of the money went towards the bar we rented out, alcohol and food.

How much did you spend on your wedding and what was/ is your budget? Roughly 11k. This amount doesn’t include a honeymoon. We had to postpone the honeymoon.

How did you finance? we had a 2 year engagement and we saved by setting aside a certain portion of our income.

Where did you splurge and we’re did you save? splurged on venue, photography and videography. Saved by DIY’ng decor and flowers. Husband purchased a suit instead of renting a tux or suit. We purchased beer and wine and let the bartender serve it.

Lastly, where are you located? Just outside of Charlotte, North Carolina

We are garbage and haven’t set a budget yet lol I know, I know, that’s like the FIRST thing you’re supposed to do!!!

We are doing a Destination Wedding in Mexico in January 2021 and we are hoping to keep it under $20,000. We have an unfortunately large guestlist and are unlikely to have a 10% or greater “no” RSVP. We will in all likelihood have about 80 guests, so it’s hard to keep costs down at that point, as most resort packages are desgined for up to 30 people and then you pay per head on top of that. We are hoping that the number of guests offsets our travel costs quite a bit and gives us lots of resort credits to upgrade aspects of the wedding itself so that we can make it a particularly nice experience for our guests, while keeping it under $20,000.

How much did you spend on your wedding and what was/ is your budget?

 $30,000

How did you finance?

My mom contributed $25k and I think my own incidental costs/gifts were about $5k. My DH spent some more on the rings though.

Where did you splurge and we’re did you save?

We splurged on photography, food, and booze. Saved on flowers (I did small, simple bouquets, and didn’t use flowers anywhere else. Just did some greenery on our ceremony arch), table linens (didn’t care, just wanted something basic), and DJ (we didn’t want too much MCing, just music that we picked).

Lastly, where are you located?

Our wedding was just outside Philadelphia.

How much did you spend on your wedding and what was/ is your budget?

My wedding is August 2019 and it is looking like our total expense will be $53,000. My budget was initialyl much less than that, but once we added up the guest list with parents, our venue and catering and bar was already $20,000. Hence the final price.

How did you finance?

My fiance and I are putting away 50% of each pay to cover the expenses for the wedding. We are also using 5K worth of savings we have. Then we are getting an additional 15K from family members and maybe another 5K on top of that, unless we cut the guest list. We’ve already spent approximately 8K so far.

Where did you splurge and we’re did you save?

I splurged mainly on the venue/food/bar package. Since we had such a huge guest list, it was important for me to have a perfect venue that included great food! I also wanted a really full bar package because I am very against cash bar weddings.

I am saving on florals, as I am going to do my centerpieces and everything myself with flowers from Costco. I can get my Bridal Bouquet, bridesmaids bouquets, boutnneires and corsages for all groomsmen and parents for $100 more than just what I was quoted for a bridal bouquet from a florist.

I am sort of saving on invitations, as I am designing them myself and printing them with a 50% off coupon. I’m also going to DIY a number of other items, such as signs, favors, an arch my dad will build for the ceremony.

I’m also saving on mens formal attire with just having them rent simple suits. Bridesmaids dresses will be custom made, though I actively seeked out a seamstress to do this on a budget.

I splurged a little on my dress, because it was so important to me, but kept the budget for that at 2K.

A big way I am trying to ‘save’ is buying things off other brides. I am purchasing a ton of decor second hand, with the intention of using it for my weddign and seeling ti to another bride afterwards. I think it will make a big difference. Why rent charger plates for $1 each when I can buy them for the same price and then sell them afterwards?!

Lastly, where are you located?

I am located in Ontario Canada! ๐Ÿ™‚

How much did you spend on your wedding and what was/ is your budget?

Budget was $25k, spent right around $23k. This doesn’t include my engagement ring (he purchased) or our honeymoon (two weeks in the South of France, entirely paid for with credit card points that we obsessively collected)

Late afternoon ceremony, evening reception, plated dinner for 115 guests, open bar.

How did you finance?

My parents offered to pay for everything and we gratefully accepted. His parents covered the rehearsal dinner and some incidental costs. I probably spent about $2k out of pocket because it felt ridiculous to ask my parents for $200 or $300 here and there when they were already being so generous.

Where did you splurge and we’re did you save?

We splurged on food and drink, relative to our area. I probably overspent on invitations but my Mom and I are picky about stationery. We also covered childcare costs for our guests.

My dress was under $1k and our flowers were gifted at cost because the florist is a close family friend. The DJ, photographer, and cake were all affordable compared to what I read on here, I think because of our location.

Lastly, where are you located?

Small town in the Midwest.

Oh this topic!

How much did you spend on your wedding and what was/ is your budget?

Our budget is currently $30,000 & we’re already at $25,000 with venue, rehearsal dinner bowling, & photography HAHAHAHA (some of this is a gross estimation since our guest list isn’t set) This does not include honeymoon.

How did you finance?

We are saving a set amount each month as well as adding any bonuses and commissions (I’m in sales) to the wedding account throughout the next year. We will be paying for the whole thing ourselves and while I am assuming our parents will give us something, we chose not to ask because this is what we want to do.

Where did you splurge and we’re did you save?

Even though it might not seem like it, we are saving on our venue. We’re renting out the entire restaurant which is already beautiful so little decor is needed and the food is amazing.

I’d like to splurge on invitations & flowers but I’ll need to compromise. Most likely on flowers because my Future Mother-In-Law has allergy issues with flowers and the venue is already beautiful & will hold it’s own with out flowers. I just love flowers!

I’m also hoping to save on my dress, but this will require some research on my part.

Lastly, where are you located?

North Jersey. The average cost for a wedding in NJ is ~$45K. If we can stick to $30K, I’d think we’re doing pretty good!

How much did you spend on your wedding and what was/ is your budget?

Budget – $5000 originally but increased to $7000. This does not include our honeymoon as it has been delayed until May 2019 due to career training on my end.

How did you finance?

Completely out of pocket in cash without disrupting our current savings.

Where did you splurge and we’re did you save?

Splurge – Photographer. Photos were super important to both of us.

Save – Basically everywhere! I bought a sample dress from DB, our venue was only $800, we skipped most of the florals and my bridesmaids are carrying single stems, most of our decor has come from thrift shops and antique malls, my best friend is doing my makeup and my Future Sister-In-Law is doing my hair.

How much did you spend on your wedding and what was/ is your budget?

Our initial forecast when we booked our venue was about £20k.  Now we are 6 months ish away from the day and we are at about 21/22k. Pretty much everything has been decided on or booked except what we are doing with the florist so that is one area that may still creep up.

How did you finance?

Cash we saved between getting engaged and the wedding date.

Where did you splurge and we’re did you save?

I ended up splurging a lot more on the dress than I intended, also on the venue, photographer and probably the florist.  To be honest we haven’t saved in a lot of areas, but I guess the main thing we are doing is just cutting things out that we don’t care about or don’t see the value in.  So probably no cake since we will have proper desserts after dinner and ice cream during the day, we aren’t renting fancy ‘wedding’ cars because I just don’t care, we aren’t doing signs or decorating random tables, no sweet table etc, no traditional favours.

Lastly, where are you located?
