How much did you spend on your wedding and what was/ is your budget?
How did you finance?
His parents are gifting us $5,000 and mine are gifting $3,000. We plan to cover whatever is left!
Where did you splurge and we’re did you save?
We are planning to get married in Hawaii so travel is the biggest splurge for us! The actual ceremony is relatively cheap.
Lastly, where are you located?
From the Pacific Northwest but getting married in Hawaii.
This is gonna be interesting.
Rough initial budget: $10,000
Actual spend: $25,000 including our ceremony, reception, 3 week honeymoon, and both our wedding bands.
How did you finance? We didn’t finance or credit, we paid for everything in cash. We got back about half in cash gifts, putting it in our house fund.
Where did you splurge/save? Splurge on the ceremony, we stayed in a castle in Scotland for 3 days. My hair and makeup was $700 lol *shame*
Save: our reception, not intentionally! We had 50 people in a private room at a pub for a three-course meal and open bar, the bill at the end of the night was surprisingly low!
Where are you located? Canada
I know that it’s hard to fathom, but for most people the wedding becomes less and less important as the years pass. I only remember flashes from my wedding and reception. I told my daughter this, to explain why we weren’t spending tons of money on a wedding and she agreed, and fortunately she didn’t want some big show anyway. I have no idea what her total wedding cost, I’m sure it was much more than we wanted to spend. I do know that the flowers and decorations were about $30,000 because I handled that. The groom’s parents paid for the rehearsal dinner which was very nice of them and was about $25,000. It was a beautiful wedding on the smaller side, only 120 people.
And guess what? She’s separated now. Money well spent? You decide.
My wedding isnt until October 2020 but we are already planning, we are probably looking at around £65k for the day for 100 guests. £15k for our honeymoon.
Splurge: Photographer, Guests Accomodation, Bespoke dress (Both bride and bridal party) Flowers & Food & Beverages.
Save: Cake, Videographer, Online Save-the-dates, Affordable wedding Invites & DIY wedding day stationary as I enjoy doing calligraphy and I am quite creative.
