There are so many costs involved in Boudoir — hotel, make up, and photographer+ album! Im saving by using a photographer who has her own studio (wouldnt have to book a room anymore) and she has a hair and MU package included. I plan to just make a book from Blurb or Mypublisher.

To save money, instead of doing it in a hotel, maybe you could do it in your house or a friend’s room? And DIYing the hair and makeup. 🙂

Have you looked on craigslist for a photographer?

I definitley wouldn’t post and ad (you’ll have perverts emailing you) but if you find someone with a nice website and are able to view examples of their work you may be able to get it done for 50-150 dollars.

Tell your cousin to shoot on RAW format and probably post process your images with these guys for professional results.( wedding photo editing ) It would surely help cut costs and get pro results.

I don’t think it would be that wierd if you kept it tame and didn’t do any implied nudes.

Decent boudoir photography is going to cost.  Because you are indoors, beginner photographers won’t cut it, you need someone with expensive portrable lighting setups which means probably hiring a professional.  I would keep a look out for specials and “parties” where photographers book many sessions in one day and the cost is significantly cheaper than individual sessions.  If you had others interested you may be able to approach a photographer for a group rate.

I don’t think your cousin (or any photographer) would be willing to give away their raw files for someone else to edit, but in this day and age, who knows.

I’m mostly a wedding photographer but offer some boudoir work done too.      If you are willing to make your album yourself ,     this will save you a lot ( but it will take you extra time of course ).      You can see if you can find a photographer to do just the print on CD ( WITH EDITING of course ! ) at a nice hotel suite or their studio.

Perhaps this would be a great way for you and your cousin to take some pictures together, so that when the wedding comes there will be an awkwardness! Boudoir photos are not nude photos! But if that is not an option, consider finding a photographer with a nice studio and bring some props!

If you end up going with another photog, maybe use a friends place or your own? Have make up done at MAC or a counter in the mall and just tip them or buy a lipstick—or have your makeup trial done before the photos?
