If I might be allowed to whine a little…
We’ve had some financial issues and unforseen expenses that resulted in us being broke. Mortgage paid, bills paid, but broke for everything else. You know, mac & cheese and ramen time and going through old purses for change. That kind of broke.
DW’s job cut her hours too, and for whatever reason they haven’t let her drive (she works at a pizza place) which is BAD, because driving brings in a minimum of $40 per shift in cash, and helps a LOT when hours are low. So it’s just been sucky. So with the kids out of school, I have been doing what I used to do successfully, selling on ebay… but that’s not the way it used to be either, sales are down and slow….
BUT, I did finally sell a couple of small value things. Not much but hey, some cash, right?? And I got paid for that today, then I go and look at my PayPal debit card and it’s EXPIRED!I don’t know how that happened but I use it infrequently, so I just didn’t notice.. and they usually send out a new one automatically but not this time I guess!
Ugh! So I can’t get to the money. I would have to order another card which takes a couple weeks, or have the money sent to my bank which will still take 4 days. Which is better than nothing but I was not thinking of that.. I was thinking as soon as something sold I’d have a little cash, dangit!
I received a child support payment from my oldest son’s father (long story but he didn’t start paying until my son was 18!), and it shows as paid to the account on Thursday, but again with the card system, the payments come to a debit card.. and the system is SO SLOW.. if it is anywhere even NEAR a weekend forget it. They say it takes 2 days for the money to be on the card but it’s not there because it’s Saturday, I know it won’t actually be on my card and available until MONDAY.
So I am no longer “flat broke” but I might as well be. Pffffft. Guess I am just not leaving the house until Monday!
It’s not like anyone is going to go hungry so I am thankful always that we have what we need. I just get anxious when there’s a cash flow problem.
