Hi all advice need please and thanks!!
I have 2 bridesmaids. I can’t really afford them but one is my sister and I wanted her to have a special day and the other is my best friend who has been so incredibly helpful with the wedding planning that I decided to include her in the bridal party to make her a bigger part of the day.
Problem: They’re both pale and after numerous attempts at dress shopping, all the dresses they tried on made them look washed out in colour, or just weren’t overly flattering. So now I’ve found one dress that my sister looks beautiful in…
Problem is it’s £199 , that’s twice what I wanted to pay. In the UK it’s the bride’s responsibility to pay for the bridesmaid’s dress, beauty, hair etc. I want them to look great though…I don’t want them to wear a dress they won’t ‘shine’ in (my sister never gets the chance to dress up). So my question is…..shall I just suck it up and find somewhere else in the budget to pull £100, or shall I keep looking, knowing that they’re likely not to find something that suits them both as well…..?

That is a very common color, have you thought about looking at more of a department store?

I would keep looking but I would look for something in that colour family so that they don’t look washed out!
Good Luck!

Honestly, I’m from the UK and it was a tradition for the bride to pay for the bridesmaids, but it is totally more acceptable now to ask if they would pay the extra for the nicer dress, or even let them pick their own styles as compromise. I say go for the dress you want, or find a cheaper alternative and continue looking, but don’t let the money hold you back 🙂

Could they pitch in for the extra you are unable to cover?

@tksjewelry:
The dress will be charcoal grey…the only pic online is blue…problem with high street grey dresses is that they tend to look officey…:(
I’ve tried changing the colour about 3 times…we’ve been through yellow, sage green and light purple and they all look a bit rubbish…

My sister could….I don’t feel right asking the other girl to…as I don’t feel I should pick a dress and then ask her to pay for it….although I could totally do with her chipping in!!
@spaneshal:
