none of our vendors asked for money before the agreed contract date, but most of our final payments were due within the last 2 weeks before the wedding, which is pretty typical.

that’s weird. which vendors? have they given you reason? maybe they’re just reminding you? i would respond with “we’ll have our final payment to you no later than x-date as detailed in the contract.” what more could they say?

If it is in the contract then they are asking you to breech the contract  by paying sooner.

If the agreement was verbal, it is not as binding but rather more a semi-flexible understanding.

If you have it in writing I would just tell the vendors “well I am looking at our contract and it says the deposits (etc) are to be paid by X date, no sooner. We based our financial planning and budget around this, so you will have the payment by X date and no later.”

I am sure it is common that the final payments are generally due in the final 2weeks prior, but if there was a specified date (and not a due by __, or prior), then I do  not really see why they would be asking.

Hmm, we haven’t had that happen. I would do what you did, tell them they’ll get their money on the date that you previously agreed to!
