Does your caterer have a minimim? Maybe you should have a later ceremony (7PM or so) and then serve hor doerves at the reception instead of a full sit down meal? Or just chosing the cheapest entree they have?

Can you talk to your caterer about ways to cut the budget (different food, ect)?  Could you move you wedding time and do more of an appetizer reception? Can you limit alcohol or do just beer/wine?

If paper isn’t terribly important to  you, there are lots of places to get invites pretty cheap (or to print them yourself with a kit from michaels).

There are lots of cheap centerpiece/decoration ideas out there.

There are inexpensive options for tungsten wedding bands for men.

Try using the heavy duty clear disposable plates!!  It’s so much cheaper!

If  your goal is to not go in to debt, then stick with it.

I would MUCH rather play cornhole than dance.  We may well not have dancing at ours.  And a cash bar, or no booze at all, is FINE.

Is your reception outside?  if so, games like horsehoes would be fun, too.

Can you ask your photographer to do an hour or two fewer?

Maybe ask your family for wedding related Christmas gifts  (like having someone give you a gift certificate for your flower)

Can you do a 2pm ceremony?  Then you can get by with appetizers and the alcohol thing would be less noticable.

I would forgo the alchohol. That would be the first thing to go for me.

I think an afternoon ceremony and appetizers would be best if there is no dance, maybe just cake, punch and some snackies.

We have extra space at our venue and are setting up Wii’s, probably 3 of them so people that don’t want to dance can play that and we will have a bowling tournament. My Fiance was so excited about the Wii idea! We have one and are just borrowing a couple from people so it’s a free fun activity.

Depending on how much your deposit was for the photographer and how much of your budget that takes up I might just forfeit the deposit and find a cheap photographer, you can find hobby photographers or newer ones on Craigslist.

Your venue sounds beautiful!  I second outside games like horseshoes, bocce, croquet, etc. I really, really wanted to do that at our wedding but now it’s in March… so I’m giving up on that idea…. 🙁  but if it was still in the summer I would TOTALLY do it!!
