I just learned about these from Wedding Bee! I had no idea that you needed one, I guess I’m being overly sensitive about the whole “don’t expect gifts/money” thing.
So does this mean it’s not rude to have one? I assume this goes on the gift table that the wedding coordinator advised I have out (didn’t think of that either!)?

You should have one. It’s very common (I don’t think I’ve been to a wedding without one!) and you want to make sure that all the cards that are given to you get to you.

Every party/wedding I’ve been to has had one… at my grad parties, it was a nice basket my mom decorated. Nobody got offended – those who brought cards dropped them in, those that didn’t ignored it. It’s certainly not rude to put one out, no. I can’t imagine how it would be if you’re having a gift table? I mean… the gift table itself is for the gifts you expect people may bring…

Yes, indeed — sadly, there are weddings where the cards are stolen if left out. Even if you have a small amount of guests, there are vendors and such running around and unfortunately not everyone can be trusted. The card box helps keep them safe.

Awwww… makes sense. Well I’m going to add this to my growing spreadsheet of “to get” things.

This was our card box – a British post box that my husband made, this is the front

You really should have one. You don’t want guests putting envelopes just out on the gift table where they could be easily stolen/lost.
